The Rest is Just Geography

Chesed Dent, Liberty University Pastoral Counseling and Care

Listen to those who’ve gone before you as they share some things they’ve learned along the way; and hear stories of the way God has been faithful. This podcast is for the goer, the sender, the receiver, the returner, the TCK, and everyone in between. Together we’ll explore what it takes to be successful in the journey, remembering that at the end of the day God calls us to Himself, the rest is just geography.

S2 Ep11: Fear and Anxiety as a Travel Partner

In this episode of The Rest Is Just Geography, Chesed sits down with Kay, who currently lives and serves full‑time overseas. Kay shares honestly about her lifelong journey with fear and anxiety—something she calls her “travel partner”—and reflects on how the Lord’s grace has been sufficient as she has navigated both life and ministry overseas. Kay talks about what it took to step overseas despite fear, how that choice has impacted her faith, and how God has met her again and again along the way. She also opens up about a season in her 30s when anxiety became overwhelming, requiring her to pause, seek support from trusted community members, and work with counselors to learn how to take her thoughts captive in healthier ways. Together, Chesed and Kay explore how deeply fear and anxiety can affect the body, the importance of holistic care, and the steady comfort Kay has found in Scripture -particularly Isaiah 41:10: “Do not fear, for I am with you.” This episode is an invitation to reflect on how God’s presence meets us not in the absence of fear, but right in the middle of it. S2 Ep9: Tanya's Story: From Going to Guiding Others

In this episode of The Rest Is Just Geography, a podcast out of Liberty University, Chesed sits down with Tanya who serves as the Director of Mobilization for Converge. She shares her story of how God first called her overseas - and how that call continues to shape her work today. Tanya reflects on her journey to Ukraine, where she lived and served for over a decade, and the ways God taught her how to plant herself in that place and people. Now back in the United States, Tanya helps guide and mobilize others who are discerning a call to cross-cultural service. Together, she and Chesed talk through practical and often-overlooked things to be aware of when beginning conversations with missions organizations—from asking good questions and understanding expectations, to recognizing personal readiness and organizational fit. Whether you’re just starting to sense God stirring your heart for the nations or walking alongside someone who is, this conversation offers wisdom, clarity, and encouragement for the road ahead.
