Does Canada need legislation against Black and Indigenous hair discrimination?

Guests: Angelyn Francis and Annette Ejiofor, Toronto Star journalists After decades of systemic racism and discrimination have punished Black Americans at school and at work because of their natural hair, at least eight U.S. states have made race-based hair discrimination illegal and now CROWN (Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair) Act is awaiting Senate approval. A tale of two protests: Windsor vs. Ottawa

Guests: Jacob Lorinc, Business Reporter, The Star, and Tonda MacCharles, Senior Reporter for the Star's Ottawa Bureau. As the "Freedom Convoy" protests that have paralyzed Ottawa's downtown enters its third week, Canadians saw police dismantle a blockade at the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor after a weeklong protest. The demonstrations in Windsor disrupted a route that carries hundreds of millions of dollars in goods everyday and had already had a ripple effect into other industries like automotive manufacturing. Police moved in quickly and promptly quelled the disruption. In Ottawa, as the authorities look to invoke acts with more powers to deal with the occupation, several Ottawa residents have started to counter protest on their own, as they fail to see any semblance of a plan to deal with the protesters.

Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen on getting to the moon

Jeremy Hansen, a CAF fighter pilot and Canadian Space Agency astronaut, has been named to NASA's Artemis II mission, the first scheduled crewed mission of the Space Launch System with the Orion spacecraft. It will leave Earth's orbit and perform a lunar flyby, the first time people have travelled by the moon since Apollo 17 in 1972 and the first time a Canadian has reached deep space.
