We are building bridges of communication between the many groups that make up the St​. L​ouis Metropolitan Region by sharing and reflecting on the stories and lives of a diverse group of guests.     183. Tangazo!: LA Firestorm, 2025 African American expectations and Snowstorm and St. Louis City Government matters

    Tangazo - a Podcast from KDHX, begins its 7th season with its 183rd episode an excellent live discussion on the Los Angeles fire Storm, with East StLouis native Dr. Milo Edwards, a physiologist who lives in in Los Angeles County, describing in graphic detail, the trama and life changing impact, resulting from the LA firestorm, that continues to rage in the city of Los Angeles. Consuming over twelve thousand homes,schools, businesses and the hopes and dreams and mental wellbeing,of tens of thousands of people,many of whom,are of African American descent. ----- Tangazo cohost and political consultant Tim Person, social justice activist Attorney, Etefia Umana and St.Louis American Editorial Columnist and political historian Michael Wesley Jones, continue the first hour, with Tangazo host/producer Hank Thompson,     discussing African American concerns for the future, under a "Republican Government" headed by a soon to be, Republican President, Donald Trump. ----- We conclude the 183rd episode of Tangazo, with a focus on St. Louis city and the challenges it faces,in its efforts to become a "First Class City," in the future that more people will find desirable, for their families to live in. 2nd Ward Alderman Tom Oldenburg and social justice activist, Attorney Jerryl Christmas, join us for a lively discussion on St. Louis's inability, are lack of preparation to handle a snow storm that continues some ten days later to wreak havoc, on numerous neighborhoods throughout the city. ------  We also discussed the failures of local elected leaders beginning with St.Louis Mayor Tishaura O. Jones, to recognize the importance of being involved with the St. Louis Public Schools. All of which contributes to a declining population,of both students of the city's public schools and city residents, who continue to vote with their feet! -----

    179. Tangazo!: The Trump impact, Domestic Abuse ends violently and North Side Business Association calls for fairness and transparency with 37 million dollar Covid Grant Program

    The 179th Episode of Tangazo - a Podcast from KDHX, begins with former Tallahassee Florida and frequent Tangazo commentator, Mayor Dorothy Inman-Johnson, discussing President Elect Donald Trump's, winning the presidency and what she expects the next four years will look like in, America. ---- Next we are joined by Dr. Cynthia R Bennett, CEO of JADASA, journey against domestic and sexual abuse. ---- The organization focuses on aiding women in abusive relationships, that often lead to gun violence, such as the recent murder in Wentzville, Mo. of 28 years old BreAnna Johnson. ----- The young mother of two  infants was also four months pregnant with twins, when she was shot five times in the back and killed by the father of her children. ---- BreAnna, had sought help from JADASA in the months leading up to her death.  In hour two, we are by joined Temeka Tameka DeVoil Stigers, founder of the grassroots organization, North Side Business Association, formed to bring awareness to the alleged misuse, of a 37 million dollar, Federal Covid Relief Grant program, intended help North Side businesses and nonprofit organizations in StLouis city. ---- Stigers was also one of the organizers, of a successful attempt, to ask the state to audit the city's spending, of other Federal funds designated for Covid relief. St. Louis Developer Kevin Bryant, leader of the Kingshighway development effort, will also be in studio alongside Tyrone Dumas, owner of the Dumas Bilingual Learning Center, located in Baden. ----- Mr Dumas, says that he has proof positive that the, Covid relief grant program has been mishandled. ----- Amidst charges of nepotism and poor vetting of applicants for the grant, the program has stalled, with St.Louis Comptroller Darlene Green, threatening to withhold signing off on the distribution of the funds, suggesting  the SLDC, has failed to properly vet businesses and nonprofits,that have been awarded millions of dollars. -----
