In an ever-changing world, let me be your guide, your rock, your whipping post to the big bowl of crazy we call our lives. Each week, I will bring you stories from my personal journey which like you, has been filled with epic highs and crippling lows. We all have one thing in common, which just happens to be the coolest thing — WE'RE ALL HUMANS, and believe me, I get it, it's hard, some days I wish I was just a plant, but I'm not, so let's get off our asses and start being there for each other.     LEADERSHIP

    Michael Jordan said, "earn your leadership each and every day. Winning has a price and leadership has a price. I pulled people along when they didn't want to be pulled. I challenged people when they didn't want to be challenged. Talent wins games, but teamwork wins championships. Great leadership is positive leadership. Positive leadership empowers people to face their fears, accomplish their goals and realize their dreams."     HUMILITY

    Chuck D. of Public Enemy said, "Don't believe the hype," and TS Eliot said, "The only wisdom we can hope to acquire is the wisdom of humility." Humility, in its simplest sense, is the ability to consider others ahead of oneself. CS Lewis said, humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself LESS, and Albert Einstein said, a true genius admits they know nothing. Humility doesn't mean that we're not confident. Like yin and yang, we must be truly content and confident with who we are, in order to humbly be of service to others.     BALANCE

    Balance is the state of Stillwater. It remains quiet within and is not disturbed on the surface. Everything in life contains two opposites, and to maintain balance, we need to find a way to work harmoniously with both sides. In Chinese philosophy, this balance is referred to as yin & yang. Are we balancing our life, or is stress taking its toll. To find balance in our lives, we must prioritize what we know is most important to us. Finding balance in life is imagined by many as juggling five balls. Each of the balls is representing important parts of our lives, family, health, spirituality, friends, in our job, four balls are made of glass, and only one of them is made of rubber. We need to recognize that our job is the rubber ball, family, friends, health and spirituality are all very fragile. And if we drop them, they will be irreversibly damaged or even shattered.     KEEP IT SIMPLE

    The Zen principle of simplicity is about understanding the true essence of things and then distilling them down to their most fundamental form. It isn't about removal for the sake of cleanliness or minimalism. But focus is the principle of simplicity on purpose and utility.     COURAGE

    John Wayne said courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway. Courage comes in many forms. physical courage is bravery through a physical act in the face of fear and hardship. Emotional courage is following our heart. Intellectual courage is expanding our horizons and letting go of the familiar. social courage is being ourselves in the face of adversity. Moral courage is the ability to make the right choices in the face of popular opposition and spiritual courage is facing pain with dignity or faith. Spiritual courage helps us live with a purpose and meaning through a heart centered approach towards all life and ourselves. It takes courage to accept who we are, our values, and what we stand for. It takes courage to have a voice and speak with truth, no matter how difficult it may be. It takes courage to recognize when to ask for help. It takes courage not to judge others, or be jealous of others. It takes courage to listen and be present. It takes courage to say we're sorry, and admit when we're wrong.     FORGIVENESS

    It's not an easy journey to get to a place where we can forgive ourselves and others. It's strange, but sometimes it's easier to forgive our enemies than it is to forgive the ones we love the most. We should all learn to forgive, but that doesn't mean that it's easy, especially when a person has done something that we consider unforgivable. Forgiveness doesn't change the past, but it does expand the future. Forgiveness doesn't mean forgetting, rather, forgiveness means letting go of the pain. Forgiveness is one of the greatest gifts that we can give ourselves. Mother Teresa said, "If we really want to love, we must learn to forgive." Learn more about your ad choices.     LET IT GO

    Letting go can seem impossible, often it takes the most strength to let go. We often hold on the tightest just before letting go. Letting Go doesn't mean that we have to forget, it means that whatever it is, it can no longer control our mind. We have trouble letting go of our pain and other unpleasant emotions about our past, we often think that those feelings are part of our identity. In some ways, we may not know who we are without the pain. This makes it nearly impossible for us to let go. The hardest part of letting go is the uncertainty. Learn more about your ad choices.     COMPASSION

    Plato said, be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle.  The Dalai Lama said compassion is the wish to free others from suffering.
