    Riffs

Riffs are pieces of music designed to catch your ear so you will recognise a song before any lyrics are sung. Two of the ‘catchiest’ riffs are in the Rolling Stone’s (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction and The Animal’s House Of The Rising Sun. Prominent also are the riffs in Dire Strait’s Money For Nothing and Heart’s driving riff on Barracuda. Considered one of the greatest rock n roll songs of all time Chuck Berry’s Johnny B Goode has a most recognisable riff. Other strong riffs can be heard on The Kink’s You really Got Me and The Beatle’s Day Tripper.   Playlist (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction – Rolling Stones Walk This Way – Aerosmith House Of The Rising Sun – Animals Money For Nothing – Dire Straits Johnny B Goode – Chuck Berry Pinball Wizard – The Who Eleanor Rigby – Zoot Barracuda – Heart You Really Got Me – The Kinks I Love Rock N Roll – Joan Jett Summertime – Ricky Nelson Day Tripper – The Beatles   To re-live previous episodes, visit joy.org.au/yesterdayoncemore ENJOY!
