Australia vs the algorithm

Algorithms are deciding almost everything we see online, and concern is growing about the kinds of content social media is feeding us and our kids.  

Now the government wants to give us more control of our feeds, proposing laws that could force tech companies to let users 'opt out' of recommendation algorithms.  

Today, Daniel Angus, digital communications expert, on how algorithms became so powerful in the first place -  and whether we can ever escape them.
