Welcome to the Dad's Roundtable where Crossings pastors and leaders share how fatherhood and faith intersect—it's not always pretty! Our goal is to encourage dads and share some practical tips on topics like work/life balance, talking to little kids about a big God, the dad job description, and having "the" talk. Join us on the journey of fatherhood at the Dad's Roundtable.

Ep 6: "Just a man … like Elijah" (James 5:7-18)

In this episode of Dad’s Roundtable we look at James 5 to remind dads that spiritual greatness doesn’t require being superhuman. Elijah was “just a man,” but his surrendered heart and persistent prayers had extraordinary impact. Faithful, praying dads model a powerful legacy of trust in God—right from the center of everyday life.

“Who’s the Boss?” – Serve by Leading (James 4:1-10)

Does selfish ambition get in the way of being a good leader at home? When a dad submits to God, he leads his family with humility, grace, and purpose. It’s not about control—it’s about modeling what it means to live under God’s leadership. In this episode of Dad’s Roundtable, we unpack James 4 and the surprising truth that strong fatherhood begins with surrender.

"Power Tools” – Speaking Life to Your Children (James 3:1-18)

Our words speaking life into our kids can be as powerful as a rudder guiding a boat in a storm. Our words can also be as dangerous as a spark in a wildfire. In this episode, we discuss James 3 and taming our tongue.

"Prove It!” – Faith that shows up (James 2:14-26)

Faith alone saves, but saving faith is never alone … good works are with it. In this episode, we look at James 2 and discuss how to be a dad with full-hearted devotion.

"Cause I said so” – Integrity in Word and Action (James 1:19-27)

In this episode, we dive into the powerful connection between a father’s words and actions. James 1:19–27 reminds us that kids are watching—what we live teaches louder than what we say. Integrity at home, especially in how we treat our family, is where authentic faith begins.

"Dad Gains” – Leading with Patience and Faith (James 1:1-18)

In this episode of the Dad’s Roundtable, we discuss how a father’s faith under pressure shapes the next generation. Drawing from James 1:1–18, we unpack how trials can become spiritual training grounds—and why patient, God-seeking leadership is one of the most powerful gifts a dad can give his kids.

As for you, Man of God...

Paul ends his first letter to Timothy with a challenge, “As for you, man of God, … pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness. … Fight the good fight of faith.” As dads we can get so wrapped up in things that distract that pursuit. We drift, get busy and all of the sudden our goals are focused somewhere entirely different. In this episode we discuss how we fight the good fight in the pursuit like Timothy.

God's Design for Sex and Dating

The over-sexualized culture has a lot to say about sexual intimacy and dating that us dads need to pay attention to. Our kids will become inundated with sexual content and conversations (if they aren’t already!) and it’s our responsibility to outline God’s plan for sexual stewardship and dating by providing opportunities for conversations that point to his goodness and his loving pursuit of us. In this part-two episode we have licensed professionals, Ron Mahn and Scott Conrad, joining the Roundtable with Pastors Daniel Rankin and Matt Cartwright.
