B*tch Better Have My Money - Record Labels & Contracts

A power imbalance is at play between artists and labels. In many cases, emerging artists, eager to break into the industry, find themselves in vulnerable positions when negotiating contracts. Labels, armed with their legal teams and industry expertise, often possess the upper hand, leading to contracts that heavily favour the label's interests. These imbalances can result in artists inadvertently signing away their rights and enduring unfair revenue splits, thus hampering their artistic growth and financial well-being. DJs Lorcan and Yuki take a look at some of the different types of contracts on offer to artists as well as discuss some of the most famous incidents where artists have come head to head with their labels over their arrangement. As ever the pair discuss the latest music releases including FLO's new EP Anne-Marie's upcoming album and Armin Van Buuren's new track Motive.
