He has specialized almost exclusively in criminal defense for over 26 years. Steve is also a partner in Criminal Defense Consultants, a firm focused wholly on helping criminal defense attorneys design winning strategies for their clients. Steve received a B.A. from the College of Wooster in 1992, where he focused on legal history and philosophy. After undergraduate studies, he received his Juris Doctorate at Capital University Law and Graduate Center in 1995. Steve appeared regularly on The Blitz 99.7 morning show with Loper and Randi for over 15 years, providing legal commentary and answering questions from listeners on the air.He started his first podcast, Lawyer Talk: Off the Record 3 years ago, featuring a Lawyer Talk Roundtable with co-hosts Norm Murdock, Brett Johnson, and Jared Blinsky. Norm Murdock is an automobile racing driver and owner of a high-performance and restoration car parts company. Norm earned undergraduate degrees in literature and journalism and graduated Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1985.He worked in the IT industry for two years before launching a career in government relations in Columbus, Ohio.Norm has assisted clients in the Transportation, Education, Healthcare, and Public Infrastructure sectors.Norm's racing successes have come in professional and club racing with IMSA, SCCA, SVRA, and HSR. He participated in the Columbus 500 IMSA SS street race, earned two SCCA Divisional championships, scored the top points nationally in his vintage racing class, and won the overall prize and course record at the Chattanooga downtown time trials. He has raced on track with luminaries such as Jack Hanna, Walter Payton, Bobby Unser, Dan Gurney, Parnelli Jones, and David Hobbs.Norm has two sons and is an occasional farmer, writer, motorcyclist, globetrotter, and cook. Brett Johnson is an award-winning podcast consultant and small business owner for the past 7 years, leaving a long career in radio. He is passionate about helping small businesses tell their story through podcasts, and he believes podcasting is a great opportunity for different voices to speak and be heard. Born and raised in the great state of Ohio, Brett brings the swing side into view for the rest of the crew. He has an innate ability to see all sides and often plays the devil’s advocate in discussions with his co-hosts. And, Brett believes Common Sense Ohio has a big impact on listeners in Ohio as well as across our great nation.Outside of his business and his participation as a co-host for Common Sense Ohio, Brett is married with 2 grown children.
