Tim Conway Jr. was born and raised in Los Angeles and is the son of iconic comedy legend Tim Conway of The Carol Burnett Show. He spent his childhood around Santa Anita, Hollywood Park, and Del Mar Racetracks with his father, four younger brothers, and older sister — experiences that helped shape his humor, storytelling, and down-to-earth perspective on life. During his early career, Conway produced his own internet radio show and, thanks to its popularity, was offered the opportunity to host a talk show on 97.1 KLSX-FM. Over twelve successful years, his show became famous across Southern California for entertaining topics, live police chases, Hollywood craziness, pop culture, sports, and current events with a twist of humor. In 2009, when KLSX switched to an all-music format, Conway joined KFI AM 640, continuing to bring listeners his unique comedic perspective on breaking news, politics, gambling, history, sports, entertainment, and life in SoCal. Throughout his career, Conway has been featured on Fox 11, CBS, NBC, and ABC, and has received numerous industry honors including a Golden Mic Award, an Edward R. Murrow Award, and a Marconi Award nomination for Personality of the Year. When he’s not entertaining listeners, Conway enjoys spending time with his family, supporting local charities, and hanging out at the racetracks.

    From Hurricanes to Heatwaves, It’s a Week of Wild and Wiggy Weather!

    Hour 1 (9.04) On this Labor Day Monday edition of The Conway Show on KFI AM 640, Andy Riesmeyer sits in as SoCal traffic stays strangely light — aside from a fatal crash near the Sepulveda Pass on the 405 — after a rare storm dropped about 1.5 inches of rain across Los Angeles and even Antelope Valley.     Cargo-Plane Crashes and Emmy-Award Smashes with Andy and Heather

    Hour 2 (9.04)  Andy kicks off the hour with Nathan Fielder’s new documentary on imprisoned Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, then aviation buff Andy breaks down the Amazon Prime cargo jet that crashed near Miami International Airport on a flight from San Juan, killing five people on the ground.     KFI’s queen of entertainment Heather Brooker joins him to unpack the Creative Arts Emmys — why the awards now sprawl across multiple nights instead of one big TV celebration, plus the big winners “Widow’s Bay” and “Spider Noir.” September in LA already feels like awards season as they talk “below the line” honors, overseas series being lifted from South Korea and India, a tearjerker posthumous Emmy for Rob Reiner’s guest role on “The Bear,” and 90-year-old Julie Andrews picking up her fourth Emmy for her “Bridgerton” voice-over.     No ‘Stairway’! And as it Turns Out, No Encores Either!

    Hour 3 (9.04)   Andy owns one of his most cringe Studio City moments: Shouting like a brat at newsman Rick Chambers mid-broadcast at Laurel Canyon and Ventura Blvd. Then he and the crew dive into the latest concert trend — no encores! — before launching Andy’s favorite caller game, Solo 2 Solo, where he plays stripped-down guitar-only tracks and listeners guess the song and artist.   A caller from Japan comes close twice, the next listener nails Pantera’s “Walk,” and the show pays respects to the late Dimebag Darrell.     It’s Bubble Trouble for Gen Z, Who Are Done with Spicy Water

    Hour 4 (9.04)  SoCal braces for a miserable heatwave that feels like 110 with 100% humidity — Foggy Bottom with palm trees.   Gen Z is officially over “spicy water,” and vodka seltzer brands are reading the room and pulling the plug.   Then the crew rips into HOA hell: sky-high special assessments that have condo-dwelling Angelenos furious, including one Torrance building staring down a $50K hit — each. Listeners are invited to name-and-shame the people making their lives miserable, before Heather dives into stretched-out Emmys week.   “I Love Lucy” still winning hardware, Rob Reiner getting a posthumous Emmy for “The Bear” and a standing ovation that left no dry eyes, and a last-call hope that Hollywood’s working dreamers can keep the industry we love from circling the drain.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

    Wheel of Fortune Fires Jim Thornton

    Hour 1 (9.04) Wheel of Fortune fired the announcer it's had since 2011. Six people in a small hatchback on Angeles Crest, four of them dead, and Marie's swell reaching the beaches tonight.  6:05 — Sony Pictures Television terminated Wheel of Fortune announcer Jim Thornton, days after suspending him, following what the studio called a thorough investigation. It stems from a complaint another passenger made about what she saw on his laptop during a May 14 American Airlines flight from Charlotte to LAX. Officers met the plane. Thornton was questioned briefly, was not arrested, and has not been charged. His attorney says he did nothing wrong and that he was in a support forum connected to suicide-prevention work he took up after losing a family member. Cro brings up Pete Townshend, arrested in 2003 in Britain's Operation Ore, who said he'd accessed a site as research tied to his own childhood — police cautioned him and put him on the sex offenders register for five years anyway. And the obvious question: is Conway the guy to take over the announcing job?  6:20 — The swell from Marie reaches Southern California late tonight. Six to ten feet on south-facing beaches, strong rip currents through the holiday weekend, and the worst of it at the south-facing spots.  6:35 — Zoox started running its driverless robotaxis to and from Harry Reid International in Las Vegas this week, the first fully driverless service at a US airport, with pickups at both terminals closer to baggage claim than the Uber and Lyft zones. Drivers waiting in the lot had mixed feelings — one full-timer said it'll take a lot of business; another said there's nothing they can do about it. Which leads to the real question: what can you make out there? Six days, twelve hours a day, seventy-five hours a week, a hundred and fifty bucks in gas, and about fifteen hundred at the end of it. Plus, the customizable-speed idea. Zoox of Hazard.  6:50 — Six people were in a black 2016 Hyundai Veloster heading east on the Angeles Crest Highway between Big Pines and Wrightwood around 1:34 this morning. The car drifted right, left the road, rolled down the embankment, and hit a power pole. Five of the six were thrown from the car. Four were pronounced dead at the scene. All six were from Wrightwood.     Halloween Horror Nights 2026 Opens

    Hour 2 (9.04) The LA County DA promised in June he'd have a picnic in MacArthur Park on Labor Day. He's going through with it this weekend. Halloween Horror Nights opened last night with a Sinners house.  7:05 — Neil Saavedra, the Fork Reporter, joins Tim. Amazon returns and the volume moving through them, why truck drivers and delivery people are buried right now, and the eternal question of why motorcycles have to be that loud. The riders' answer: so you can hear them. And the thank-you wave, which nobody dislikes.  7:20 — More with Saavedra. His wife's master's from USC, and the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, which opens September 22 in Exposition Park. Star Wars takes up about seven percent of it. The rest is narrative art and storytelling — a Norman Rockwell holding well over a hundred works, Maxfield Parrish, N.C. Wyeth, Jessie Willcox Smith, and children's book illustration from Beatrix Potter and Leo Politi, out of a founding collection north of 40,000 pieces. Plus the time Conway and Steckler got thrown out of LACMA for breathing on the art.  7:35 — Halloween Horror Nights opened at Universal Studios Hollywood, and this year's run is the longest they've ever done: 42 nights through November 1. Eight haunted houses, six scare zones, the Terror Tram hosted by Art the Clown, and the Purge stunt show. The headliner is Sinners, built out of the second half of Ryan Coogler's film — Club Juke, the vampires, the whole thing. It hit a sixty-minute wait within half an hour of the gates opening. Hellraiser makes its Hollywood debut, and Stranger Things, Killer Klowns and Ozzy Osbourne all have houses. The element of surprise is the whole game.  7:50 — Back in June, during the federal and LAPD operation at MacArthur Park, District Attorney Nathan Hochman made a specific public pledge: Labor Day 2026, middle of the day, he'd be there with his family having a picnic.     The Jury Duty Scam Taking Millions

    Hour 3 (9.04) Courts across California are warning people about a jury duty scam that now comes with a fake arrest warrant attached. Plus, two men pulled alive from a Nepal tunnel nine days after the floods.  8:05 — USC hosts Fresno State tonight. Then the jury duty scam that's cleaning people out: a caller says you missed jury service and there's a warrant out, then texts or emails an official-looking arrest warrant with a dollar figure on it. They may claim to be a US Marshal or a local officer; they may have your name and address, and caller's ID can be spoofed to show a real courthouse number. The FTC put out an alert on it in June. Riverside Superior Court issued its own warning last month. The rule to remember courts never demand payment over the phone, and no government agency asks for a payment app, crypto, gift cards, or a wire. A real summon comes in the mail. Plus, do you track anyone on your phone — and is the phone listening?  8:20 — Labor Day weekend travel and the state of the Inland Empire on a getaway Friday. The Rams and 49ers play the NFL's first-ever regular season game in Australia next Thursday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, with the Rams as the designated home team. And Bellio hands off the six-inch platform heels to Nikki, on the grounds that she's married now.  8:35 — What's the Conway gang doing this weekend? Plus, a new analysis of federal data puts the average California emergency room visit at three hours and twenty-seven minutes — tenth longest in the country. For someone in a mental health crisis it's five hours and fourteen minutes. About two percent of patients in California leave before anyone sees them, and Loma Linda University Medical Center has the longest typical visit in the state at over seven and a half hours. And Miley drops the Cyrus.  8:50 — Rescuers in Nepal pulled two men alive out of a hydropower tunnel Friday, nine days after floods killed more than 1,200 people. Search teams heard voices that morning and dug them out of the Trishuli 3A site in Rasuwa district — a mechanical foreman and a mechanical supervisor, one in critical condition. One of them told rescuers there are more people living down there. Roughly 115 are believed to be trapped in that tunnel alone, and about 900 workers are missing across a dozen hydropower projects.
