The Dan Bongino Show

Dan made a miscalculation when he moved to insert young, perky-voiced kids into his space. What is and was needed -- and wanted, by the way -- was and is an established, experienced voice of wisdom. Admittedly, Dan's own show was frequently stylistically childish. And Dan knew it. Yet he projected the weight of his earned experience, in tandem with a considerable roster of crucial and hyper-relevant contact sources. What do we have now? Well, I think it might be best framed by this statement, as given by the new co-host, "Hayley" : "Door Dash is one of these, um, you know, food delivery services. They have an app. You can order food from local restaurants and..." Yeah. I live in Taiwan. Yet, I may live in Taiwan, but I am aware of what Door Dash is. I would wager a large sum of cash that 99.99999% of Dan's former listeners are aware of what Door Dash is. There is no need for the new host to explain this. An older, wiser man or woman would understand such crucial minutiae. But such manner of presentation defines the modality of the new show. This constant parade of poor rhetorical choices amounts to Bad Radio. Hey, I'm glad that we're on the same side. It is reassuring to know that a significant portion of youngsters are leaning in the morally correct direction. But this is long-form radio, and the last thing a person of my own age and experience desires is to waste time listening to whippersnappers who do not understand the broader audience. For the record, I am exactly Dan's own age, and even as Dan has, I've earned my bones. What all such listeners are seeking is not youthful conviction, but the sound of experience and wisdom. Dan, for all his annoying tics, yet offered his own wisdom from out of a sufficiently labored well. These kids, shouting about all the news that I've already heard, from superior presentations elsewhere, simply have nothing to appeal to older and deeper thinkers. But let the kids have their show. The rest of us still have Levin, VDH, and Holehouse.
