Peace-Makers

I greet you in Jesus precious name! It is Friday morning, the 30th of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Numbers 12:3: "(Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.)” Then we go straight to the Gospel of Matthew 5:9: ”Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” Folks, we must differentiate here between peace-makers and peace-lovers. A vast difference. Now we know Moses, we have read so much about him. I’m looking forward to shaking him by the hand when we get to Heaven. For a man to be able to take a million-plus people out of slavery, through the Dead Sea, through the wilderness with no food and no army to protect him. Often no water to drink and often the very people that he was sent to save were trying to kill him. A man who can take that kind of pressure, I can tell you, as the saying goes, the softest part of Moses' body was his teeth. I like that one. Folks, there was nothing soft about Moses, let me tell you. Yet he was a humble man. He was a peace-maker, and I want to say to dads today, because I get lots of letters from moms, dad, we need to be peace-makers in the home, not peace-lovers. Dad, you need to take your authority in the home. You need to love your wife. You need to protect her. You need to take authority in your home with your children. Children, you need to listen to dad. He has been put there by God. He is there to look after you and the Lord says, "Blessed are the peace-makers for they shall be called the sons of God." Not peace-lovers, peace makers. Dad, to be a peace-maker you need to use discipline in your home. Your wife must be protected. Sometimes the children, not intentionally, take advantage of mom. They don’t listen to her. They didn’t make their beds in the morning. They don’t get up when she asks them to get up. They don’t do the chores around the house and dad, you sit in that chair watching television. No good. Take your responsibility! If you want to be a peace-maker in your home, you need to exercise authority. You need to be prophet, priest and king in the home. People often ask me, ”What does that mean?” Prophet is the one who directs the family. The priest is the one who has quiet times with his children every day, and the king is the one who brings the food home. He makes the money. Then you’ll have the peace of God which surpasses all understanding. Have a blessed day, moms and dads, boys and girls. Goodbye

It Is Finished

I greet you in Jesus precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 1st of November, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Isaiah 25:8: ”He will swallow up death forever, And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces;” Then we go to 1 Corinthians 15:55: "O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” Death, where is your sting? Now where is your victory? Who's afraid of you now? No, we are not afraid of you. I want to say to you today, death is the beginning of life, life eternal. Many, many years ago on this farm, Shalom, we had a terrible tragedy. We lost my little four-year-old nephew, my brother's son, when he fell off the tractor that I was driving. Probably the darkest day of my life, but Jesus Christ never leaves us and He never forsakes us. Maybe you’re going through the same thing. I want to tell you some good news. Your loved one, as long as they know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, is not dead. They are in Heaven and they are waiting for you and me. About three months after that tragedy, my dear brother had a vision at night, he had a dream. He said, as clear as day, and he dreamt that his little son Alastair, blonde hair, blue eyes, was running through an emerald green field of grass, and when he called out to him, he said, "Daddy, I am in Heaven. I am with Jesus. I’m not afraid. I am very happy and I don’t want to come back to earth, but I am waiting for you in Heaven.” And my brother knows that, and his dear wife and his family and I know that too and that is the hope that we have. So today, if you are mourning, if you are weeping for a lost one, that’s okay. You can do that, in fact you have to do that, but please never forget the fact that death has lost its sting. When Jesus Christ said, ”It is finished.” When He was hanging on the cross, He meant it. Jesus is not dead, He’s alive. Your loved one is alive, and we need to be ready. You know, if your loved one could speak to me today, they would say, "Angus, please tell my mother, tell my wife, tell my child that I’m not dead but I want to see them in Heaven one day.” We need to run the race, we need to finish it strong, and we need to finish it with Jesus Christ holding our hand. Have a wonderful day. God bless you and goodbye.

Redemption

I greet you in Jesus precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 31st of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Ephesians 1:7: ”In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” Then the next one, a little bit further on in the Book of Colossians 1:14: ”in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.” Jesus Christ has paid the price for you and me. We are sinful people. We can try as long as we like to justify our sins, but we can’t. In the Old Testament, they were continually offering up sacrifices for their sins, but it didn’t work. Father God sent His only begotten Son to die on the cross to pay the ultimate price for your sin, young man, for your sin, young lady. I looked up the meaning. “Redeemer” means that He pays the price to rescue humanity from the bondage of sin, spiritual death and separation from God. The Lord has paid a tremendous price for you and me, and He has paid it in full. When He died on the cross He said, ”It is finished.” Hallelujah! And He meant it. That means you can walk free. Repent of your sin, ask the the Lord to forgive you and He will do it. It is something that is very hard to understand. You say, ”Every sin I’ve ever committed, Angus?” Yes, every single sin that you have ever committed. I was at a prayer meeting this morning, and I heard a very sad story of a man who is busy dying at the moment because he will not accept the fact that Jesus Christ has paid for his sin. He said that his sins are too terrible for God to forgive. That’s a lie, and it comes from the pit of hell. You know that old song, I think we have sung it before haven’t we? He paid a debt He did not oweI owed a debt I could not payI needed someone to wash my sins awayAnd now I sing a brand new songAmazing graceChrist Jesus paid a debt that I could never pay. Pray this prayer after me. Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for dying on the cross of Calvary for a sinner like me. I confess all of my sins to You today, and by faith I believe that You have forgiven me. Amen. God bless you and Goodbye.

The Sparrows

I greet you in Jesus precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 29th of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Isaiah 50:10: “Who among you fears the Lord? Who obeys the voice of His Servant? Who walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord and rely upon his God.” Then we go straight to the Gospel of Matthew 10:31: ”…you are of more value than many sparrows.” Jesus knows that little sparrow's name. You have nothing to fear today, my dear friend. Keep your eyes on Jesus. He says, “Even that little sparrow cannot fall to the ground without My notice.” I want to read a beautiful little reading I read early this morning and it was by a man of God, and it goes like this: ”In fierce storms,” said an old seaman, ”we can do but one thing. There is only one way. We must put the ship in a certain position and keep her there. This, Christian, is what you must do. Sometimes, like Paul, you can see neither sun nor stars, and no small tempest lies on you; and then you can do but one thing; there is only one way. Reason cannot help you; past experiences give you no light. Even prayer fetches no consolation. Only a single course is left. You must put your soul in one position and keep it there. You must stay upon the Lord; and come what may - winds, waves, cross-seas, thunder, lightning, frowning rocks, roaring breakers - you must lash yourself to the helm, and hold fast your confidence in God's faithfulness, His sovereign engagement, His everlasting love in Christ Jesus.” That is the way, you and I will get through any storm we are going through at the moment. Remember that beautiful old hymn, "Why should I feel discouraged? Why should the shadows come? Why should my heart be lonely and long for heaven and home, when Jesus is my portion, my constant friend is He?" His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me. Today, keep your eyes on Jesus. God bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.

Bless Someone

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 28th of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Ruth 2:12: ”The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.” Then we go to Galatians 6:9, in the New Testament: ”And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” This is such a beautiful story, my dear friends. It has touched my heart very deeply this morning. When we think that Ruth, who was not a Jew, came back to Israel with her mother-in-law, Naomi, to look after her. Boaz noticed it, which is why she found favour with him. Not only did he favour her, but he eventually married her. Her husband had died, remember, and she was a widow and gave birth to a son, and that son went right down the lineage to Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world. So Ruth is of the line of Jesus. We’re not talking about the fact that Jesus Christ came straight from Heaven, we know that, but He was born through the line of which Ruth had the privilege of being part of. I want to say to you today, you must do something for someone who has no idea who you are, and has no idea how they got that blessing, so that the Lord Jesus Christ Himself can bless you for your good works. I’ve seen it before. Let me give you an example: I went to the hairdresser the other day, and I had my hair cut, and as I got up to pay, he said, "It’s already been paid.” He said, “You know the man who was in the chair next to you?” I said, ”Yes.” He’s paid for your haircut.” I said, ”Where is he?” I wanted to thank him. He said, ”Look out the window. You see that blue BMW that’s just reversing out?” He said, ”That young man paid for your haircut.” Folks, that touched me so deeply because he didn’t even want me to know who he was and that is a blessing. Today, do the same thing. Boaz saw what Ruth was doing for Naomi and because of that he blessed her. Not only did he bless her, he married her. Not only did he marry her, but she had a child from the line of David. May God bless you as you do something today for someone who will never know it was you, except the Lord. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.

Christ in You

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 27th of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to Galatians 2:20. Paul says: “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” I read the most beautiful little reading early this morning. It was written many, many years ago by a man named Phillips Brookes. He was an Episcopalian minister in America, and he said something quite profound. He said, "A man who lives in God knows no life except the life of God." Isn't that beautiful? One of my heroes was a Zulu preacher from southern KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. He was just a young Zulu boy who herded his mother's cattle. He grew up and became a great preacher, a great man of God. He had a tremendous healing ministry as well - William Duma. William Duma was once invited by a group of Christians, with a few other pastors as well, just as a form of thanks for all the work he had done for the Lord - a trip to Israel, to the place where his beloved Saviour, Jesus Christ, lived and walked and died and rose again. The other pastors - there were a number of them - were overwhelmed, and immediately they said, “Thank you so kindly” - not William Duma. He said, "I am so honoured, I am so overwhelmed, but can I let you know tomorrow? I just have to get permission from my Lord, to go, tonight." The man who lives in God, knows no life but the life of God. That relationship with God will stop you, sir, from falling into adultery, it will stop you, madam, from looking at other things except Jesus Christ. Young man, young lady, that relationship will stop you from getting involved in pornography on your cell phone, stop you from bending the rules, stop you from cheating because Christ in you is the hope of glory! Have a wonderful day and give the Lord Jesus Christ full reign over your life today. God bless you. Goodbye.

Amongst the People

I greet you in Jesus' precious name. It is Monday morning, the 26th of October, 2026 and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the book of Genesis 28:16. This is Jacob speaking. Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.” Folks, the Lord is with you and me all the time, and we forget it so often, don't we? Then we go to Matthew 4:25. Great multitudes followed Him - from Galilee, and from Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan. Then we go to Mark 12:37 ... And the common people heard Him gladly. Our Lord, Jesus Christ, is the Lord of the common people, the man in the street. One of His titles is "the friend of sinners". I love that one. Yes, folks, He can be found everywhere. He can be found in the palaces of the kings of the world. But mostly you'll find in the Bible He was thronged by the ordinary working class, you could say. Now, I read this beautiful little reading in a small book by an unknown author. It's in Old English, so I'll try and paraphrase it as we go along. The parish priest, a very sincere man, climbed up in the high church steeple because he wanted to be nearer God that he might be able to hand down His word to the people. And in sermon script, he wrote his sermons on a piece of paper daily, what he thought was sent from heaven, and then he dropped it down on the people's heads, twice a day in seven. In his age, God said to this parish priest,Come down, come down from the steeple. And he cried out from the steeple,Where are you, Lord? He's trying to get as high as he can to heaven. And the Lord replied, I'm down here among my people. We don't have to look for the Lord in some special holy place. He is in amongst these people. And by the way, He's in your heart today. Father God, I pray for my dear friend listening to this message, that he or she will remember that they don't have to go to Israel or to Britain or to America to find You. You are right here in his heart, her heart. Let us remember that. In Jesus' Name, amen. Have a wonderful day.God bless you and goodbye.

No Doubting

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 25th of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Galatians 1:12: ”For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.” Then we go to 1 Corinthians 15:2: ”…if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.” The Lord is speaking to you and me today about holding fast to our faith. People are questioning the divinity of Jesus Christ. Oh, my dear friend, He’s more real to me than you listening to this message at the moment. You know that Jesus was seen by up to five hundred people after His resurrection, and then Paul says, ”and lastly by me.” There might be one or two Thomas’ this morning listening to this message. “I’ll believe it when I see it. When I can put my fingers through the holes in His hands and His feet and my hand in His side where He was struck by the spear of the Roman soldier, then I’ll believe.” And at that time Jesus just stood right in front of Thomas. He didn’t open the door, He walked through the door and He said, ”Thomas.” And Thomas fell to his knees, ”My Lord and my God.” He said, “Thomas, you do well that you say that but blessed are those that come after you who haven’t seen me and still believe.” It was like yesterday, I’ll never forget it, when I stood on the platform down in En Gedi and I’d been preaching about the rushing mighty wind that filled the upper room, when all the disciples were baptised in the Holy Spirit and began speaking in tongues. I was so overwhelmed by the whole affair - five thousand delegates from all over the world, eighty nations represented. I walked around the front of the lectern, and you can see it on YouTube - it’s there, and I said, Jesus. Please do it again.” And oh, my dear friend, He did it. The wind started blowing so hard it was blowing the equipment off the platform, and then it started to rain. It never rains down there, hardly ever. Jesus manifested Himself to five thousand of us, plus. Today, never, ever doubt the reality that Jesus Christ is Lord of all, and He’s coming back soon. Jesus bless you. Have a wonderful day. Goodbye.

In the Name

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 23rd of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start with 1 Corinthians 15:22: “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.” Isn’t that beautiful? And then John 3:16: ”For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Praise be to God. Through Adam we have death. Through Christ we have life, as simple as that. Just the other day we were at the little church on the farm, Shalom, and a visitor came to join the congregation and afterwards I spoke to him. I said, ”Where do you come from?” He said, "I come from Iran.” I said, ”Are you a muslim?” He said, ”No.” I said, ”Are you a Christian?” He said, ”No” I said, ”What are you?” He said, ”I’m searching, I don’t know.” Straight away I felt the Spirit of the Lord say to me, “Ask him if he’d like to give his life to Jesus Christ?” I said, ”Would you like to be born again? Would you like to give your life to Jesus Christ?” He said, "Yes please, sir.” And right there and then I prayed the sinner’s prayer over that man and straight away another man walked over, and he came from another town and he was a muslim. He said, ”I too want to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and saviour.” Isn’t that Wonderful? It’s the name above every other name folks, and we must not be shy or slow to introduce our beloved Jesus to people. It’s not a case of, ”Oh well, I don’t want to embarrass him.” If that man does not know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour, he will go to hell. That’s what the Bible tells us, so who cares whether he’s embarrassed or not. This man is in the Kingdom of God today, and by the way, the Lord impressed upon me to give him a Christian name. I said, ”I’m going to give you a new name.” I haven’t done this before, and his face lit up. I said, ”Your name is going to be Daniel. Daniel in the lions' den. Daniel was in Babylon when the Lord touched him and saved him from ravenous lions killing him.” And so we have a Daniel now, and we are so excited, but I want to ask you a question. You have been listening to the thought for the day, maybe for a long time, maybe not so long. Have you ever given your life to Jesus Christ? The Lord says we must be born again. You’ll find that in John 3:3. Please pray this prayer after me if you would like to be born again. Dear Lord Jesus, I acknowledge I am a sinner and I need a saviour. Please come into my life. I am sorry and repent for all of my sins and today I ask you to be my soon-coming King and Saviour, and I pray this in Your precious name. Amen. Jesus bless you and go out and tell the first three people that you meet what you did today! Have a wonderful day, God bless you and goodbye.

Tragedy to Victory

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 24th of October, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Old Testament, in the Book of Ruth 1:20: "But she said to them, “Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.” Then we go to the Book of Job 13:15: ”Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” Are you going through a very tough time at the moment? Are you feeling a bit bitter, maybe towards the Lord? Naomi left her country and went to stay in Moab with her husband and her two sons, and they married two girls, but Naomi’s husband and her two sons both died and left Naomi on her own with her two daughters-in-law. The one stayed in Moab, the other one followed Naomi back to Israel, and when she got home, people all greeted her. She said, ”Don’t call me Naomi because I’ve got nothing. I have lost everything.” Maybe you’re there today? I was there. I remember it very clearly. I planted a beautiful crop of corn, of maize, but I made a terrible mistake. I got my plant population wrong. Instead of planting the seeds six inches apart they were coming up a foot apart. I thought I was ruined. They were so sparsely planted that I could walk through the maize crop in the early morning and not get any dew on my clothes, but oh folks, God is in control. I cried out to God just like Naomi did. You know what happened with Naomi? Naomi’s daughter-in-law, Ruth, got remarried to Boaz. They had a child. His name was Obed. Obed was the father of Jesse, who was the father of King David, and that line goes right down to Jesus Christ. You talk about things changing - she was directly related to the King of Glory. Tragedy turned into an unbelievable victory. And for me, that year we had one of the worst droughts in the history of this district and the men that had planted their maize close together, like it should be, had no cobs because of the drought, but because of the spacing in my crop, I had massive cobs, and you get paid not by volume but by weight, and that year I had a bumper crop. Today, you might be feeling a bit down. Maybe you feel bitter. Things are not going your way. I want to tell you, trust in the Lord like Job the farmer did. Even though He slay me, yet will I still trust Him, and God will turn your situation around. He’s done it so many times for me. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.
