The podcast might be winding down at the end of the year, but we're still planning to fit in a couple more book club discussions, starting with a special Halloween-themed pick! Let's talk about adults reading YA

While it's sometimes a touchy subject, we can all at least agree that adults have a massive impact on how YA is written and discussed. All of us at Bookstacked started reading YA books as teenagers but now that we're adults, we ask ourselves why we're still reading YA? In this episode, we dive into the good and the bad when it comes to adults reading YA. In this episode: So why are so many adults reading YA anyway? Most of us started reading YA when we were teenagers. What's kept us tied to YA books after all these years? Does the fact that so many adults read YA ruin reading for teens? Allegiant Movie Review

After months of speculation, rumors, trailers, and talk the 'Allegiant' movie finally hit theaters! And was it good? Well, that's what we're talking about in this episode! All in all, the movie left a bad taste in everyone's mouth and it's got us wondering about the final movie in the series, 'Ascendant'. To make up for missing our Red Queen podcast, we share our brief thoughts about Victoria Aveyard's Glass Sword. We give an update on the books we're reading. Michael couldn't be on the show, but he left us with his thoughts on the movie! Overall, we weren't very impressed with the movie. Kristy and Addie enjoyed a number of the actors. We all agree that Four's action scene was pretty cool. What was up with those creepy showers? Where was Matt Damon? Speaking of Matt Damon, what was up with the Martian landscape? It felt like they dumbed-down Tris in this movie. Did the movie split well? What will 'Ascendant' be about? Where was Uriah? That ending scene was... weird. It's safe to say that we were weirded out by the movie. In fact, we say the word "weird" over 30 times in this episode. Expanding the universe of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' with F. C. Yee ('The Dawn of Yangchen')

There's no exaggeration in saying that Nickelodeon's 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' is one of the most popular animated shows of all time. For the generations that grew up with the show, it's a great time to be a fan. With more television series and movies on the horizon, there's a massive demand for Avatar content. YA book author F. C. Mark Jeffrey: Podcasting a novel and self-publishing

Mark Jeffrey has always thought outside the box. He’s first and foremost an entrepreneur -- that’s his thing. So it wasn’t a surprise when he approached self-publishing differently than most. He gave his book away for free. But we’re not talking about Kindle-Daily-Special-free either (the Kindle hadn’t even been invented yet!). He read his novel in front of a microphone, turning it into an audiobook and then releasing it as a podcast. The result was an audience of over 2 million and an eventual deal with one of the biggest publishers in the world. For our pilot episode of About the Author, we’re speaking with Mark about how he wrote his book and then shared it with the world.
