Prentiss L. Thompson illustrates drum EQ and Compression and how get to use these basic tools to create a full and dynamic drum sound for you church service. Knowing how you want your drums to sound is one thing, getting there is the difficult bit. ... Besides setting static fader mixes, using EQ early in a drum mix is one of the best ways of getting your drums sounding great. Improvised EQ curves rarely help when starting a drum mix. Compression can be tricky, but it's one of the keys to achieving a modern drum sound. It's common to apply between 3-6 dB of gain reduction to the kick and snare.
