Tortoise is a news start-up devoted to slow journalism, based in London, UK. We’re built for and with our members and we’d love you to be a part of it.
We take news slowly. We tell stories that really matter, and take time to see the full picture.
We have three regular podcasts: the Sensemaker which focuses on one story each day to make sense of the world; our lead investigative show the Slow Newscast, out weekly on Thursdays; and The Backstory with Andrew Neil, a series of in-depth conversations from Britain's most forensic interviewer.
There’s a host of other must-listen series. Sweet Bobby, My Mother’s Murder and Left to Die are our members’ favourites, so if you’re new to Tortoise they’re a good place to start.
For early, ad-free listening, to support and access all our journalism and to get invites to exclusive newsroom events, do become a member. Use the invitation code TORTOISEPOD50 at tortoisemedia.com/invite and you'll get 50% off your first year's membership.
But if Tortoise podcasts are what you love most, subscribe on Apple Podcasts to Tortoise+.
