Just When We Need It, God Sends Help: Walker Hayes, Craig Allen Cooper, and Evan Dougoud

Have you ever been in a desperate situation wondering how you will make it to the next day? Perhaps there isn’t enough money to pay that one bill, or perhaps your health hasn’t been the greatest and you wonder if you’ll ever feel better, or maybe you’re in a dire situation and you just can’t see your way out of it. During these times, one person’s kind gesture or offer of help is sometimes the way we’re able to make it to the next day—turning a corner away from a turbulent season of our lives. So often these “angels” appear in the form of friends, family, and sometimes even strangers who act as God’s agents to lift us up into a better place. This week we will hear two touching stories that speak to how God sends his help through others—right when we need it most. We’re talking with singer Walker Hayes and his friend, Pastor Craig Allen Cooper, and founder of the Be Heard movement, Evan Dougoud.    Links, Products, and Resources Mentioned: Jesus Calling Podcast Jesus Calling Jesus Always Jesus Listens Past interview: Krispin Mayfield Upcoming interview: Jeff Henderson   Walker Hayes Craig Cooper Glad You’re Here Redeeming Grace Church   Evan Dougoud Be Heard Movement Transformation Church www.beheardmovement.com   Interview Quotes: “I’d just been beat up by Nashville and wasn't really excited to be known or know people. I was not a very approachable person when I met Craig, at all. And a lot of that was by choice, and just that was kind of comfortably where I lived.” - Walker Hayes “I said, ‘Lord, I try to encourage other people, you know that. I need you, please, to encourage me. Is anything I'm doing to make a difference in anybody's life? Please show me that you have me where you want me.’” - Craig Allen Cooper  “I think God was kind to show me Christ in another human, and I'm so grateful for that.” - Walker Hayes “It was just very, very tough to try to focus on school when you're trying to focus on surviving.” - Evan Dougoud “I'm standing here today only as a walking miracle, but most importantly, God saved me and I want to help and go and do the same for somebody else.” - Evan Dougoud “What if I didn't move to Tulsa? There's people on the street I would've never met, who may have died on the street if I didn't move, if God didn't use my story, if God didn’t redirect my steps.” - Evan Dougoud “I stopped putting God in a box of how He will provide for us.” - Evan Dougoud  “I learned that trust is gained in buckets, but lost in drops. By us being consistent, by us being a man of our word, by us just showing up, it created a unique, trusting relationship to those who are unhoused.” - Evan Dougoud ________________________ Enjoy watching these additional videos from Jesus Calling YouTube channel! Walker Hayes: Applebee's on a date night

Walker Hayes, most recognized as of late for his smash hit “Fancy Like”, which reached number one on Billboard's Country charts in 2021, joins Kaitlyn to give everyone a solid dose of down to earth. With his laid back attitude, relaxing Southern accent, living in the suburbia of suburbia, wearing the same clothes for days in a row, while eating a grilled cheese (and Applebee's) - it’s the reality check we all need. The joy is the time spent with his family and none of the “bells and whistles” that come with fame. Walker talks about life as a father of 6, how unexpected the success and attention for “Fancy Like” has been and the larger than life “stage” of social media. He shares that the most fun has been sharing the success with his family, especially his teenage daughter who made the viral TikTok video with him on a whim one day when she just needed to dance! Walker also openly shares about his sobriety journey, how AA meetings have saved his life countless times and the difficult loss of his daughter, Oakleigh. The man is so down to earth he couldn’t even remember what his IG handle was LOL so here it is: @walkerhayes CHINET - Chinet Brand makes premium disposable tableware for all of life’s gatherings. 3. Walker & Laney Hayes: The Best Love Song. Blessing Others. Grieving the Loss of a Child. Practicing Gratitude.

Walker & Laney Hayes: The Best Love Song. Blessing Others. Grieving the Loss of a Child. Practicing Gratitude.

We’re revisiting our conversation with Walker and Laney after having such a special conversation with Walker earlier this week!   Singer/song-writer, Walker Hayes (who wrote our theme song! + the #PIMPINJOY song 'Joy Like Judy') and his wife Laney join Amy for all 4 things this episode. You might laugh. You might cry. The parents of 6 kids let us in on a lot and we are so thankful that they took the time to share it all. FIRST THING: Amy is obsessed with Walker's song “Don’t Let Her”, which was written about Laney. Every girl would love for a guy to write her a song like this. Its genius. Sorta sad. But genius. And very sweet. A must listen!!! SECOND THING: Blessing others is fun. Walker & Laney have been on the receiving end, but now they are on the giving ned. They are paying it forward with their "Be a Craig Fund" that was inspired by their friend (named Craig) that blessed them with a van for their big family at a time when they were financially strapped and they didn't have a car with enough seatbelts for everyone. "Be a Craig Fund" now allows them to pass the blessing of a new car on to other people that need a little help. THIRD THING: Walker & Laney open up about the heartbreaking journey of losing their daughter Oakleigh during birth. They share about how they are getting through the grief process in hopes that it can be helpful to others who may be going through something similar. FOURTH THING: “Life ain’t always pretty, but hey its pretty beautiful thing!” Through the good and the bad...Walker & Laney practice gratitude...so they each share 4 things they are thankful for. Be sure to check out WalkerHayes.com for his music, more information on the Be A Craig Fund, as well as the awesome merch mentioned in this episode.  Best places to find more about Amy: RadioAmy.com + @RadioAmy See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
