Ep. 554 - John Thomson - Best known for The Fast Show and Cold Feet

John Thompson is best known as a principal cast member of The Fast Show. He went on to star in the hit ITV drama Cold Feet as Pete Gifford. He studied drama at Manchester Polytechnic where he met Steve Coogan who secured him a job on Spitting Image and they continued to collaborate on many comedy projects over the following few years. The two won the Perrier Comedy Award in 1992 . Ep. 534 - Professor John Duncan - a pioneer of modern cognitive neuroscience

Professor John Duncan is among the pioneers of modern cognitive neuroscience. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2008 and a Fellow of the British Academy in 2009. In 2012, he was awarded the Heineken Prize for Cognitive Science by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. After completing his education at the University of Oxford in 1976, Duncan worked for two years with Michael Posner at the University of Oregon, and then worked at the Medical Research Council (MRC). As of 2018, he is Programme Leader at the MRC's Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit in Cambridge; he is also a Professorial Research Fellow in the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of St John's College, Oxford. His latest book, The Animal and the Thinker: Instinct, Reason and the Dance of Our Divided Selves, is out now. Ep. 556 - Vittorio Angelone - Edinburgh Comedy Award nominated comedian

Vittorio Angelone is an Italian-Irish comedian who grew up in Belfast. He was nominated for the Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards in 2022 and has had sold out runs at the Edinburgh in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. After moving to London to train as a classical musician he eventually made the predictable switch to stand-up comedy. He has risen through the ranks of the comedy world at an incredible speed, building a following with stand-up clips, podcasts and sketches amassing millions of views online. Alyssa Kyria is a comedian, actor and writer, best known as The Funny Mummy, whose relatable comedy sketches regularly go viral and have amassed over 23 million views. Ep. 487 - Limahl

Limahl is best know as the lead singer of 80s band Kajagoogoo, who enjoyed the instant fame of hitting the top of the charts with their debut single "Too Shy”. This was followed by two more Top 20 hits "Ooh To Be Ah" and "Hang On Now" (all of which he co-wrote). Limahl then struck out on his own and hit the charts again with his first solo single ‘Only For Love,’ quickly followed with the Giorgio Moroder–produced worldwide smash ‘Neverending Story’, the theme song from the hit film of the same name. In addition, ‘Neverending Story’ and ‘Too Shy’ were featured on hit TV shows Black Mirror, American Horror Story and Stranger Things. Busy Body was nominated for Best Show at the Leicester Comedy Fest. Her debut in 2024, Thick Skin, transferred to the Soho Theatre where The Guardian gave it ★★★★ - saying Amy was ‘a delight to behold’. She is well-known in comedy circles as a writer and an experienced producer working for Tiger Aspect from 2016-2021 on such shows as Big Age on Ch4 and Lazy Susan on BBC3. British Chinese actress Naomi Yang is perhaps best known for her role as Maggy in Sky series Wolfe. Up next, she stars in Sky's crime thriller Under Salt Marsh, alongside Kelly Reilly, Rafe Spall, Jonathan Pryce and Harry Lawtey. She’s just been announced as joining the cast of BBC’s acclaimed drama Vigil in a major role for its upcoming third season Naomi can be seen in a range of acclaimed television dramas including BBC's Nightsleeper and Peaky Blinders. Most recently she starred in ITV’s DI Ray opposite Parminder Nagra and Jamie Bell. Other television credits include Apple TV+’s Liaison with Eva Green and Vincent Cassel, ITV’s Protection, ITV’s Maternal, Peacock’s Brave New World, ITV’s Deep Water, Channel 4’s Chimerica, and Disney+’s Mars. Phil Ellis is an award-winning comedian who was nominated for Best Comedy Show at the 2023 Edinburgh Comedy Awards and won The Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality.
