JESY NELSON - PART 2: Why I Walked Away From Little Mix

This is part 2 of my conversation with the incredible Jesy Nelson.  Growing up in Romford, Jesy always dreamed of being on stage. But years of bullying slowly knocked her confidence until she stopped believing in herself, right up until The X Factor.  Auditioning for The X Factor changed Jesy’s life. Her dreams came true overnight but fame wasn’t what she thought it would be.  In part 2 of our conversation, Jesy opens up about what fame was really like and the relentless trolling that followed her. She shares the real reason she left Little Mix and why walking away was her only option.  We cover:  Being bullied as a child and how it led to alopeciaDancing with Diversity as a teenager Auditioning for The X Factor and Gary Barlow’s harsh commentsThe rollercoaster highs and lows of Little Mix Why leaving Little Mix was the best thing she ever did How motherhood has given her a new confidence  This is one of those rare, real conversations. Jesy opens up about the journey that’s made her who she is today and I’m so grateful she trusted me with her story.  Jesy Nelson is Great Company.  For more information and support about Spinal Muscular Atrophy, head to smauk.org.uk Jesy Nelson: Life after Little Mix launches on Prime Video on 13th February If you enjoyed the show, you can also follow us:  Instagram- @greatcompanypodcast TikTok - @greatcompanypodcast  And if you've got thoughts, questions and comments, you can email us at: greatcompany@jampotproductions.co.uk  THE CREDITS  Executive Producer: Ewan Newbigging-Lister Producer: Helen Burke Assistant Producer: Issy Weeks-Hankins Video: Jake Ji & Josh Bennett Social Media: Laura Coughlan Audio: Rafi Amsili Geovannetti   Great Company is an original podcast from JamPot  Hosted on Acast. JESY NELSON - PART 1: Becoming a Mum & The Fight No Baby Should Face

Jesy Nelson rose to global fame with Little Mix, experiencing the highest highs and lowest lows in the public eye. But nothing could have prepared her for motherhood. Jesy’s world changed when her twin daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, were diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1, a rare and severe condition. Like many of us, my heart broke when I watched her video sharing the news. For the first time on a podcast, Jesy opens up about her pregnancy, the endless hospital visits, the constant fear and the moment everything changed. This conversation is raw, honest and incredibly powerful. Jesy, thank you for trusting us with your story. We’re sending you and your beautiful girls so much love. Part 2 is out Friday 6th February. SAM THOMPSON: Our Biggest MIC Fallout & Why Jamie Finally Said Sorry

Sam Thompson and I grew up together on Made in Chelsea. What started as a friendship on the show became something much deeper - he became like a brother to me. We spoke every day and he was there for me through some of the hardest moments in my life. Then everything changed. We had our biggest fallout and it all played out on TV. Since then, we’ve rebuilt our friendship. I’ve watched Sam turn one of the toughest years of his life into one of his best. This conversation looks back at what broke us and what brought us back together. We cover: - Growing up on Made In Chelsea - Our biggest fallout and the phone call that brought us back together - Sam’s first heartbreak and what it’s taught him - Wanting to be a dad and Sam’s fear that time is running out - Why 2025 ended up being Sam’s best year yet This conversation is about how our hardest years can end up teaching us the most - and how it’s never too late to say sorry. ALAIN DE BOTTON: WHY MAKING FRIENDS AS AN ADULT FEELS IMPOSSIBLE (BUT ISN'T)

Alain de Botton came on the show one year ago and totally blew me away. We spoke about relationships with parents, partners, attachment styles and so much more. And now he’s back and we’re talking all about a relationships we often overlook but is potentially one of the most important in our lives: friendship. Alain artfully dissects the issues we run into with deepening our friendships, why it’s so scary to vulnerable but how and why letting people in can lead us to a richer life.  We cover: How to open up to having more meaningful friendshipsSexual anxiety in friendship particularly among menHow polyamory could be born from a lack of real friendshipFriendship break-ups and why they can be a good thingWhy people might be bad friendsHow to argue well in relationships As expected, my mind was well and truly blown again. VANESSA WILLIAMS: Being the First Black Miss America Changed My Life - But Came at a Cost

Vanessa Williams is an absolute powerhouse. She’s a Grammy-nominated recording artist, an award-winning actor and a global cultural icon, known for roles in Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives and currently starring as Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada on the West End. At just 20 years old, Vanessa became the first Black woman to win the Miss America crown. It was a historic moment that changed her life overnight. But making history came at a cost: she faced de*th threats, FBI protection and a level of public scrutiny few could imagine. In this episode, we cover: How Vanessa broke barriers as the first Black woman to win Miss America Navigating de*th threats and hate after her win Singing live at the Super Bowl and the OscarsAging on camera and her thoughts on cosmetic surgeryWhat Vanessa's mum told Elton John when they met This is a conversation about strength, resilience and refusing to be defined by other people. 6. JOANNE MCNALLY: The Identity Crisis of Being Adopted, Finding Success In My 30s and Why I’m Single

    26/11/2025

JOANNE MCNALLY: The Identity Crisis of Being Adopted, Finding Success In My 30s and Why I’m Single

Joanne McNally is a hilarious woman. Her comedy has resonated with people all over the world, with her tours selling out wherever she goes, making history as the first Irish female comic to headline Dublin’s 3Arena. And with her podcast, ‘My Therapist Ghosted Me’, Joanne has become one of the most compelling, unfiltered voices in comedy right now. What I love about Joanne is that she didn’t follow the “perfect plan”. She built her comedy career in her thirties after realising she wasn’t living the life she actually wanted. Feeling unfulfilled and eager to tap into her creative side, she took the most vulnerable parts of her past - being adopted and recovering from an eating disorder - and turned them into comedy that’s honest, fearless and completely her. And that’s why people can’t get enough of her. She’s witty, she’s brutally truthful and genuinely hilarious. We cover: What is was like being adopted in Ireland in the 1980sHow Joanne used humour to get through tough timesHer journey recovering from an eating disorderHer career shift from publicist to an international comedianSearching for love on dating appsWhy her therapist actually ghosted her My conversation with Joanne reminded me the story we’re born into isn’t the one we’re meant to stay in and that embracing your true voice can change everything. KATHERINE RYAN: HOW I CHANGED MY MINDSET & MADE A LIFE FOR ME & MY DAUGHTER

How Katherine Ryan turned grit into greatness. Katherine Ryan might just be the funniest person on Earth. She’s a brilliant comedian, actress, writer and podcaster who says it exactly how it is. I first met Katherine a few years ago and I’ve always admired her energy and determination to succeed. Long before she became one of the UK’s biggest comedians, she was working on the stand-up circuit while raising her daughter Violet as a single mum. Now, with an incredible career and her fourth child on the way, she’s still doing it all completely on her own terms. We cover: How Katherine navigated life as a single mum in her twentiesShifting her mindset: overcoming insecurities and embracing gratitudeHer journey to succeed in a male-dominated industryWhy she treats her kids as capable individuals, not babiesOvercoming the challenges of maintaining intimacy during pregnancy I love every conversation I have with Katherine - and this one was no different. It reminded me how we can always learn more about ourselves and the way we approach life. ON PANIC ATTACKS… With Jamie Laing and Fearne Cotton

Panic attacks are wide-spread in today’s society, and yet remain something we rarely talk about openly. So it’s vital that we normalise an experience so many of us share - because talking about it is often the first step towards understanding, accepting and working through it. Jamie Laing and Fearne Cotton both came on How to Fail back in 2019 and spoke so honestly about their own experiences. Jamie reflected on the early days of Made in Chelsea, when he experienced panic attacks for a full year. Fearne shares how she still experiences panic attacks today and the stigma that can surround them. Hopefully this conversation feels reassuring, validating and helps to normalise a topic that has remained unnecessarily taboo for far too long. Will we FINALLY have s*x?! 🥵

It’s our second-to-last episode before Baby Laing arrives, and things are as chaotic as ever! 🧸 Jamie’s under pressure to finally pass his driving test, Sophie’s battling intense pregnancy cravings, and the two of them get into a very serious discussion about why Sophie absolutely will NOT share her placenta pills with anyone. From Sophie’s brutal midnight leg cramps to Jamie’s truly unhinged approach to packing the hospital bag, nothing is off limits. PLUS, the pair debate whether Jamie should try Sophie’s breast milk, uncover the joy of adult nappies, and attempt to figure out the logistics of having s*x at nine months pregnant (spoiler: there is no elegant way). 11. ALAIN DE BOTTON: WE LOOK FOR FAMILIARITY NOT HAPPINESS IN RELATIONSHIPS

ALAIN DE BOTTON: WE LOOK FOR FAMILIARITY NOT HAPPINESS IN RELATIONSHIPS

Alain de Botton views the world in a way that is profound yet easy to understand; a modern-day philosopher and essayist, he set up the School of Life, which explores self-understanding and aims to educate people on the aspects of life we don’t get taught at school - like relationships, careers, anxiety, ageing and so much more. I had the honour of sitting down with Alain to chat, and am so pleased it was recorded as I’ll be listening back to this episode aplenty. What is love? How do we navigate heartbreak? Why is our childhood so informant on the rest of our lives? How do we sit with ourselves? And while we’re at it - what actually is the meaning of life? Alain talks me through why we experience the ‘ick’, the emotional burdens parents project onto their children, and how breakdowns can be breakthroughs. He also helps me understand better my own relationship, examining how attachment styles and past experiences can shape the way we love. This conversation is rich in kindness and full of appreciation for the complexities of being a human.  If you enjoyed this episode, please click follow - we have so many great guests like this one, you won't want to miss out! Why We Choose Unhealthy Partners | ALAIN DE BOTTON THROWBACK

Happy New Year’s Eve!  As we get ready for a new year, I wanted to revisit one of my all-time favourite episodes of Great Company with the incredible Alain de Botton.  I’ve been lucky enough to sit down with Alain not once, but twice on the show and every time I speak to him, I come away feeling calmer, a little wiser and thinking about life in a new way.  I keep coming back to this episode because every time I do, I take something new from it. Alain’s insights into human connection, love and emotional growth are fascinating. They’ve shaped how I think about my relationships, my friendships and what it really means to grow into the best version of ourselves.  We cover:  How to navigate heartbreak Why our childhood is so informative on the rest of our lives Why funny people often have sad parents How attachment styles and past experiences can shape the way we love What actually is the meaning of life  This conversation is a gentle reminder that becoming a “new you” often starts with understanding the old one. 23/09/2025

SPENCER MATTHEWS: OUR FIRST HONEST CONVERSATION ABOUT OUR FRIENDSHIP

Spencer Matthews is a very old friend of mine - we grew up together sharing some pretty embarrassing moments on television, making a name for ourselves as podcasters interviewing (and winding up) some of Hollywood’s finest, in our podcast, ‘6 Degrees’. However, in the last few years, our friendship has begun to wane, and it’s a question I’m asked all the time: "Have you and Spencer fallen out?". To tell the truth, I've never really known the answer to this… We’ve hardly seen each other for a number of reasons, and so when he reached out about this recording, I thought it’s time to get to the bottom of this, because friendships are important and worth fighting for. We cover: Why he wasn’t invited to my London weddingWhere he was during my ultramarathonsWild stories of our time on Made In ChelseaSpencer shares the lowest points of his alcoholismHow the grief of losing his brother as a child, has impacted his capacity for emotions This podcast was created for connection in a world of disconnection, and this episode is quite raw for me. Like many men, I’m not always the greatest communicator, and I think Spencer would say the same for himself, so having this opportunity to sit down together, and lay it all out on the table was really special. And I've got a new book coming out, Boys Don't Cry which you can pre-order here: boysdontcry.co.uk  I also sat down with Spencer on his podcast, Untapped, which, if you loved this, you can check out too: podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/untapped/id1788474884   If you enjoyed the show, you can also follow us:  Instagram- www.instagram.com/greatcompanypodcast  TikTok - www.tiktok.com/@greatcompanypodcast  And if you've got thoughts, questions and comments, you can email us at: greatcompany@jampotproductions.co.uk  THE CREDITS  Exec Producer: Jemima Rathbone  Producer: Helen Burke Assistant Producer: Rhoda Abrokwa  Video: Jake Ji & Josh Bennett Audio: Rafi Amsili  Social Media: Laura Coughlan & Anthony Barter  -    Great Company is an original podcast from JamPot  Hosted on Acast. DR ROBERT WALDINGER: This Is How You Make 2026 The Happiest Year of Your Life

We all want to be happy and live a good life but how do we actually get there? It’s a big question, and one that most of us don’t have a clear answer to. This episode will help you find your happiest self. In fact, we’re often told that money, status and success are the keys to happiness. But according to professor and psychiatrist Dr Robert Waldinger, we’ve been getting it wrong. Dr Waldinger is the director of the Harvard Study of Adult Development, the longest-running study on happiness ever conducted. I was so excited to sit down with him to discuss what more than 85 years of research reveals about living a good life and how we can all make this year the happiest year of our lives - starting now. We cover: What really matters for long-term happinessHow to live a happy lifeWhy loneliness is one of the biggest threats to our wellbeingWhat we get wrong about happiness and how to get it rightThe most common unhealthy traits in our relationshipsSimple ways to meet people and make meaningful connections This conversation will leave you feeling hopeful and give you a renewed appreciation for the people in your life.
