Russell Wilson On Sean Payton Fallout, Pete Carroll Relationship & His Hall of Fame Career | Bussin'

Recorded: February 6th, 2026 | Welcome back to another episode of Bussin' With The Boys. This week, Will is joined by friend of the show, Clay Matthews. Clay and Will dive into all of the headlines coming out of the NFL Combine from this past weekend. The guys get into what their experience was like at the Combine, for Will, his pro day. The boys get into what they were most nervous about and whether or not Will is more athletic than Clay. Following the intro, Will and Taylor sit down with Super Bowl champion QB Russell Wilson for a real, unfiltered conversation about football, leadership, and the grind of the last few years. The boys kick things off by asking how Russ somehow has time to do everything—business, family, football—and how long he actually wants to keep playing in the NFL. From there, he gets honest about the struggles of the last three seasons. He has bounced around the last couple years and dives into what happened in Denver between him and Sean Payton. Russ breaks down what the quarterback room is like in New York with Jaxon Dart and Jameis Winston. He also talks about his relationship with Pete Carroll while he was in Seattle. Russ gets into how Pete is able to keep his energy so high and what makes him such a great coach. Finally Russ gets into how much longer he wants to play and asks the boys what they did to prepare for life after football. He also gets into what it has been like and how he deals with the critics and “haters” when things aren’t going his way. If you’re into NFL quarterback talk, comeback seasons, leadership, Super Bowl dreams, and behind-the-scenes insight into life as one of the league’s most talked-about players, this one’s for you. Big hugs, tiny kisses. Tyler Lockett joins the show to talk Seahawks’ Season Review & Playoff Preview

Russell and Jeff start the show by introducing their guest – Tyler Lockett, one of the best wide receivers to ever wear a Seahawks jersey! They start off the show by discussing Tyler’s impressive skill set that has allowed him to flourish in the NFL. Russell tells Tyler how he observed him putting in the extra work as a rookie, and knew he was going to be a special player.  (6:30) Jeff asks Russell and Tyler to recap their win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday; why they started slow and what ‘clicked’ for them in the 4th quarter. Jeff then asks the guys why they decided to throw a quick pitch to David Moore instead of taking a knee at the end of the game, and whether or not they were scoreboard watching. (15:45) Russell and Tyler talk playoffs; Tyler explains the frustration that came with the Seahawks’ last two playoff losses, and what he thinks the team needs to do to get over the hump. 12/09/2020

How The Seahawks Bounce Back, Dwyane Wade joins the show to talk USA ‘Redeem Team’, Miami Big 3, and his Business Ventures

Russell and Jeff start the show by discussing the Seahawks’ disappointing loss to the New York Giants on Sunday. During the conversation Russell gives Jeff some honest insight into how he and the team played. To finish the topic, Jeff asks Russell how he plans to approach the remaining four games in the regular season.  Russell and Jeff then introduce their guest Dwyane Wade, a three-time NBA champion, Olympic gold medalist, and savvy businessman. To begin the interview, Dwyane lets the guys know that during quarantine he has spent more time with his family than ever before. As customary, Jeff asks Dwyane which NFL team he supports, and is alarmed when Dwyane says he supports his hometown Chicago Bears.  Russell and Dwyane begin their one-on-one interview talking about their commitment to the game off the field, specifically their bodies (15:30). They each explain how they realized at an early point in their respective careers that they needed to invest in their bodies if they were going to play the game for as long as they would like to. Russell then asks Dwyane about his childhood, and Dwyane explains to Russell some of the hardships he had to overcome in order to not only become successful, but just to survive. Dwyane tells Russell about his relationship with his mother, who has had a very well documented tumultuous life, but one with a happy ending! Russell transitions the conversation to talk about Dwyane’s historic basketball career (35:00). Russell asks him what it was like to win his first NBA championship. Russell then asks Dwyane about the 2008 USA ‘Redeem Team’, who won the gold medal at the Olympics in Beijing. Dwyane talks about the overall experience, and highlights some of his first memories with the late, great, Kobe Bryant (46:10). To finish the conversation about Dwyane’s illustrious basketball career the guys talk about the Miami Heat Big 3. To wrap-up their one-on-one conversation (1:03) they discuss business; what drives them to achieve more, how they decide to invest in something, and why philanthropy is a staple of their portfolios.
