    ਗੂਜਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ ਐ ਜੀ ਨਾ ਹਮ ਉਤਮ ਨੀਚ ਨ ਮਧਿਮ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਲੋਗ ॥ ਨਾਮ ਰਤੇ ਕੇਵਲ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਸੋਗ ਬਿਜੋਗ ਬਿਸਰਜਿਤ ਰੋਗ ॥੧॥ ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੀ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਾਕਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਾ ਜਮ ਕਾਣਿ ਨ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਬਾਕੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਸਨ ਰਵਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਗੇ ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਹਰੀ ॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਜਗਿ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਮੇਕ ਘਰੀ ॥੨॥ ਐ ਜੀ ਖੋਟੇ ਠਉਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਘਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਕਾਈ ॥ ਰੋਸੁ ਕਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਖਸ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਈ ॥੩॥ ਐ ਜੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰੈ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਵਾਈ ॥ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਨਰ ਕਾਲੇ ਮੁਖ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਜਿਨੑ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥੪॥ ਐ ਜੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਬਿਲਮ ਨ ਅਧੂਆ ਰਾਈ ॥ ਆਨਦ ਮੂਲੁ ਨਾਥੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਨਾਥਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੫॥ ਐ ਜੀ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਨਿ ਚੁਕਾਈ ॥ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਭੇਟਿ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਧਾਤੁ ਹੋਈ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੬॥ ਹਰਿ ਜਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਨੁ ਇਸਨਾਨੀ ਮਜਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭਾਈ ॥ ਪੁਨਰਪਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਨ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੭॥ ਤੂੰ ਵਡ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਗੰਮ ਤਰੋਵਰੁ ਹਮ ਪੰਖੀ ਤੁਝ ਮਾਹੀ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਦੀਜੈ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹੀ ॥੮॥੪॥ English Translation GUJRI, FIRST MEHL: O Dear One, I am not high or low or in the middle. I am the Lord’s slave, and I seek the Lord’s Sanctuary. Imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, I am detached from the world; I have forgotten sorrow, separation and disease. || 1 || O Siblings of Destiny, by Guru’s Grace, I perform devotional worship to my Lord and Master. One whose heart is filled with the Hymns of the True Guru, obtains the Pure Lord. He is not under the power of the Messenger of Death, nor does he owe Death anything. || 1 || Pause || He chants the Glorious Praises of the Lord with his tongue, and abides with God; he does whatever pleases the Lord. Without the Lord’s Name, life passes in vain in the world, and every moment is useless. || 2 || The false have no place of rest, either inside or outside; the slanderer does not find salvation. Even if one is resentful, God does not withhold His blessings; day by day, they increase. || 3 || No one can take away the Guru’s gifts; my Lordand Master Himself has given them. The black-faced slanderers, with slander in their mouths, do not appreciate the Guru’s gifts. || 4 || God forgives and blends with Himself those who take to His Sanctuary; He does not delay for an instant. He is the source of bliss, the Greatest Lord; through the True Guru, we are united in His Union. || 5 || Through His Kindness, the Kind Lord pervades us; through Guru’s Teachings, our wanderings cease. Touching the philosopher’s stone, metal is transformed into gold. Such is the glorious greatness of the Society of the Saints. || 6 || The Lord is the immaculate water; the mind is the bather, and the True Guru is the bath attendant, O Siblings of Destiny. That humble being who joins the Sat Sangat shall not be consigned to reincarnation again; his light merges into the Light. || 7 || You are the Great Primal Lord, the infinite tree of life; I am a bird perched on Your branches. Grant to Nanak the Immaculate Naam; throughout the ages, he sings the Praises of the Shabad. || 8 || 4 ||

    ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਪਾਨੀ ਪਖਾ ਪੀਸਉ ਸੰਤ ਆਗੈ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਈ ॥ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਮਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੈ ਇਹੁ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕਰਹੁ ਦਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਈ ॥ ਐਸੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀਜੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਮੋਹੁ ਮਾਨੁ ਛੂਟੈ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਭਰਮਾਈ ॥ ਅਨਦ ਰੂਪੁ ਰਵਿਓ ਸਭ ਮਧੇ ਜਤ ਕਤ ਪੇਖਉ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਦਇਆਲ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਗੋਸਾਈ ॥ ਕੋਟਿ ਸੂਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਰਾਜ ਪਾਏ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਨਿਮਖ ਬੁਲਾਈ ॥੩॥ ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ॥ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਸਭ ਬੁਝੀ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥ ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ) ਦਇਆ ਕਰ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਅਕਲ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। (ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਪਾਣੀ (ਢੋਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪੱਖਾ (ਝੱਲਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਆਟਾ) ਪੀਂਹਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਤੇ, ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ। ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਤੇਰਾ) ਨਾਮ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੇ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਵਾਂ ਜੋ ਸੁਖ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ।੧। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਮੇਰਾ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਏ, ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਮੇਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਮੈਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਵੇਖਾਂ, ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਨੰਦ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸੇਂ।੨। ਹੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਖਸਮ! ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੈਂ, ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਰਾਜ-ਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਲਏ ਹਨ।੩। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹੀ ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਉਹੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹੀ ਜਾਣੋ, ਜੇਹੜੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਮਾਇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਪੂਰੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।੧੦। DHANAASAREE, FIFTH MEHL: I carry the water, wave the fan, and grind the corn for the Saints; I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. With each and every breath, my mind remembers the Naam, the Name of the Lord; in this way, it finds the treasure of peace. || 1 || Have pity on me, O my Lord and Master. Bless me with such understanding, O my Lord and Master, that I may forever and ever meditate on You. || 1 || Pause || By Your Grace, emotional attachment and egotism are eradicated, and doubt is dispelled. The Lord, the embodiment of bliss, is pervading and permeating in all; wherever I go, there I see Him. || 2 || You are kind and compassionate, the treasure of mercy, the Purifier of sinners, Lord of the world. I obtain millions of joys, comforts and kingdoms, if You inspire me to chant Your Name with my mouth, even for an instant. || 3 || That alone is perfect chanting, meditation, penance and devotional worship service, which is pleasing to God’s Mind. Chanting the Naam, all thirst and desire is satisfied; Nanak is satisfied and fulfilled. || 4 || 10 ||

    ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਰੇ ਜਨ ਉਥਾਰੈ ਦਬਿਓਹੁ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਗਈ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਨ ਜਾਗਿਓ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਚਾਉ ॥ ਅਰਥ: (ਮੋਹ-ਰੂਪ) ਉਥਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਦੱਬੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੇਰੀ ਉਮਰ) ਸੁੱਤਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਗਈ ਹੈ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜਾਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਈ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦਾ) ਚਾਉ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਹੈ।ਸਰੀਰੁ ਜਲਉ ਗੁਣ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਕਾਰ ਨ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ ਜਗਤੁ ਜਲੰਦਾ ਡਿਠੁ ਮੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੧॥ ਅਰਥ: ਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਸੜ ਜਾਏ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ (ਦੱਸੀ ਹੋਈ) ਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ; (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ) ਸੰਸਾਰ ਮੈਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਦਾ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ (ਜੀਵ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਨ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਦੇ ਹਨ।੧।ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਗਈ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਨਾਰਿ ॥ ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਸਦਾ ਚਲੈ ਤਾ ਬਨਿਆ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥ ਅਰਥ: ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਜੀਵ-ਰੂਪੀ) ਨਾਰੀ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਹੈ; ਉਹ ਨਾਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਤੁਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਸਫਲ ਸਮਝੋ।ਸੇਜ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਸਦਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਰਿ ॥ ਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਕਦੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਨਾਰਿ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੨॥ ਅਰਥ: ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਰੂਪ) ਸੇਜ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਤੀ ਸਦਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹਾਗ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਦੇ ਮਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, (ਇਸ ਲਈ) ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਦੁਖੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ।੨।ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਪਿਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਤੇ ਨਰ ਬੁਰਿਆਰੀ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਪਾਪਿਸਟ ਹਤਿਆਰੀ ॥ ਓਹਿ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਕੁਸੁਧ ਮਨਿ ਜਿਉ ਧਰਕਟ ਨਾਰੀ ॥ਅਰਥ: ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਭੈੜੇ ਹਨ, ਰੱਬ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੀ ਕਰੇ! ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਨਾਹ ਕਰੋ, ਉਹ ਬੜੇ ਪਾਪੀ ਤੇ ਹੱਤਿਆਰੇ ਹਨ; ਮਨੋਂ ਖੋਟੇ ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਵਿਭਚਾਰਨ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਘਰ ਘਰ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ।ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੨੩॥ ਅਰਥ: ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਨਿਵਾਜੀ ਹੋਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ, ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾ।੨੩।SHALOK, THIRD MEHL:O man, you have been tormented by a nightmare, and you have passed your life in sleep. You did not wake to hear the Word of the True Guru’s Shabad; you have no inspiration within yourself. That body burns, which has no virtue, and which does not serve the Guru. I have seen that the world is burning, in egotism and the love of duality. O Nanak, those who seek the Guru’s Sanctuary are saved; within their minds, they meditate on the True Word of the Shabad. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: Attuned to the Word of the Shabad, the soul-bride is rid of egotism, and she is glorified. If she walks steadily in the way of His Will, then she is adorned with decorations. Her couch becomes beautiful, and she constantly enjoys her Husband Lord; she obtains the Lord as her Husband. The Lord does not die, and she never suffers pain; she is a happy soul-bride forever. O Nanak, the Lord God unites her with Himself; she enshrines love and affection for the Guru. || 2 || PAUREE: Those who conceal and deny their Guru, are the most evil people. O Dear Lord, let me not even see them; they are the worst sinners and murderers. They wander from house to house, with impure minds, like wicked, forsaken women. But by great good fortune, they may meet the Company of the Holy; as Gurmukhs, they are reformed. O Lord, please be kind and let me meet the True Guru; I am a sacrifice to the Guru. || 23 ||

    ਤਿਲੰਗ ਮਃ ੧ ॥ ਇਆਨੜੀਏ ਮਾਨੜਾ ਕਾਇ ਕਰੇਹਿ ॥ ਆਪਨੜੈ ਘਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੋ ਕੀ ਨ ਮਾਣੇਹਿ ॥ ਸਹੁ ਨੇੜੈ ਧਨ ਕੰਮਲੀਏ ਬਾਹਰੁ ਕਿਆ ਢੂਢੇਹਿ ॥ ਭੈ ਕੀਆ ਦੇਹਿ ਸਲਾਈਆ ਨੈਣੀ ਭਾਵ ਕਾ ਕਰਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੋ ॥ ਤਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਲਾਗੀ ਜਾ ਸਹੁ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥੧॥ ਇਆਣੀ ਬਾਲੀ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੇ ਜਾ ਧਨ ਕੰਤ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ ਕਰਣ ਪਲਾਹ ਕਰੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਾ ਧਾਵੈ ॥ ਲਬ ਲੋਭ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਕੀ ਮਾਤੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥ ਇਨੀ ਬਾਤੀ ਸਹੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਹੀ ਭਈ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਇਆਣੀ ॥੨॥ ਜਾਇ ਪੁਛਹੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਵਾਹੈ ਕਿਨੀ ਬਾਤੀ ਸਹੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਭਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੀਐ ਹਿਕਮਤਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਈਐ ॥ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਤਉ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈਐ ॥ ਸਹੁ ਕਹੈ ਸੋ ਕੀਜੈ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੋ ਦੀਜੈ ਐਸਾ ਪਰਮਲੁ ਲਾਈਐ ॥ ਏਵ ਕਹਹਿ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਭੈਣੇ ਇਨੀ ਬਾਤੀ ਸਹੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਈਐ ਤਾ ਸਹੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਅਉਰੁ ਕੈਸੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥ ਸਹੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਸੋ ਦਿਨੁ ਲੇਖੈ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਸਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਸਭਰਾਈ ॥ ਐਸੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜ ਕੀ ਮਾਤੀ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਭਾਇ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਸਾਇ ਸਰੂਪ ਬਿਚਖਣਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਸਾ ਸਿਆਣੀ ॥੪॥੨॥੪॥ TILANG, FIRST MEHL: O foolish and ignorant soul-bride, why are you so proud? Within the home of your own self, why do you not enjoy the Love of your Lord? Your Husband Lord is so very near, O foolish bride; why do you search for Him outside? Apply the Fear of God as the maascara to adorn your eyes, and make the Love of the Lord your ornament. Then, you shall be known as a devoted and committed soul-bride, when you enshrine love for your Husband Lord. || 1 || What can the silly young bride do, if she is not pleasing to her Husband Lord? She may plead and implore so many times, but still, such a bride shall not obtain the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence. Without the karma of good deeds, nothing is obtained, although she may run around frantically. She is intoxicated with greed, pride and egotism, and engrossed in Maya. She cannot obtain her Husband Lord in these ways; the young bride is so foolish! || 2 || Go and ask the happy, pure soul-brides, how did they obtain their Husband Lord? Whatever the Lord does, accept that as good; do away with your own cleverness and self-will. By His Love, true wealth is obtained; link your consciousness to His lotus feet. As your Husband Lord directs, so you must act; surrender your body and mind to Him, and apply this perfume to yourself. So speaks the happy soul-bride, O sister; in this way, the Husband Lord is obtained. || 3 || Give up your selfhood, and so obtain your Husband Lord; what other clever tricks are of any use? When the Husband Lord looks upon the soul-bride with His Gracious Glance, that day is historic — the bride obtains the nine treasures. She who is loved by her Husband Lord, is the true soul-bride; O Nanak, she is the queen of all. Thus she is imbued with His Love, intoxicated with delight; day and night, she is absorbed in His Love. She is beautiful, glorious and brilliant; she is known as truly wise. || 4 || 2 || 4 ||

    ਗੋਂਡ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਧੂਪ ਦੀਪ ਸੇਵਾ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥ ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਬੰਦਨ ਕਰਤਾਰ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਗਹੀ ਸਭ ਤਿਆਗਿ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਭਏ ਵਡ ਭਾਗਿ ॥੧॥ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਗਾਈਐ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ॥ ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਜਿੰਦੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਮਤ ਭਏ ਆਨੰਦ ॥ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਬਖਸੰਦ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ॥ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖ ਮੇਟਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੨॥ ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਇਹੁ ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥ ਸਾਗਰ ਤਰਿ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਰਣ ॥ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾਰਣ ਕਰਣ ॥੩॥ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਏ ਅਪਨੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਭਾਗੇ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ॥ ਜੂਐ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਹਾਰਿ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਅੰਗੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੧੪॥gਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਾਡਾ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਧਨ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡੀ ਲੋਕ ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਧੂਪ ਧੁਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੀਵੇ ਬਾਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੋ ਪਏ, ਉਹ (ਧੂਪ ਦੀਪ ਆਦਿਕ ਵਾਲੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਣਾ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਸਤੇ 'ਧੂਪ ਦੀਪ' ਦੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਹੈ।੧।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮਰਨ ਤਕ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੰਦ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਸਲ ਗਿਆਨ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ।੩।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਪੰਜੇ ਡਰਾਉਣੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਭੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ) ਜੂਏ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਵਾਂਦਾ।੪।੧੨।੧੪।Meaning: O brother! The God to whom this body is given to us, it is life and wealth, should be praised for eight hours (at all times). 1. Stay. (O brother! The people of Karma Kandi worship the gods and goddesses, burn incense and light lamps before them, but) the person on whom the Guru is blessed with great fortune, that person (with incense lamp etc.) Takes the shelter of God, always resting his head at God's feet, worshiping God is the action of 'Dhup Deep' for that person. 1.Hey brother! God joins His servants in His devotion by His grace, removes all their sufferings from birth to death and merges them in His feet. Joy remains within those who sing the praises of the All-Blessing God. 2. Hey brother! One should remain in the company of the Guru and chant the name of God, this is the religious act and this is the real knowledge. Hey brother! Make the feet of God, the knower of everyone's heart and the creator of the world, a ship and cross this world-sea. 3.Hey brother! Those whom the Lord protects by His mercy, the (Kamadika) claws of fearsome foes flee beyond them. O Nanak! Whatever man God has favored, that man never loses his life in gambling (of vices). 4.12.14.

    ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸਰਨੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਭੇਟਤ ਹੋਤ ਅਨੰਦਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਗਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਨਾਮੋ ਆਰਾਧਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੋਈ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਭਾਈ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਾ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੨॥੨੫॥੮੯॥ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ, ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰੋ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਂਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰੋ।ਰਹਾਉ।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।੧।ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਕਿਸਮਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ) ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ (ਭੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਇਹ) ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ-ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਾਂ।੨।੨੫।੮੯।SORAT’H, FIFTH MEHL:The True Guru is the Giver of all peace and comfort — seek His Sanctuary. Beholding the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, bliss ensues, pain is dispelled, and one sings the Lord’s Praises. || 1 || Drink in the sublime essence of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny. Chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord; worship the Naam in adoration, and enter the Sanctuary of the Perfect Guru. || Pause || Only one who has such pre-ordained destiny receives it; he alone becomes perfect, O Siblings of Destiny.
