Scientists have been researching the diet of early humans in North America, known as the Clovis people. They have determined that these early humans mainly hunted and ate large animals. In fact, one of their main food sources during the end of the Ice Age was mammoths. The study used chemical analysis to study the bones of a young Clovis child. This allowed scientists to understand the diet of the child's mother. The scientists determined that most of her diet was the same as diets of predatory animals from this time period. The Clovis people had moved from Siberia to North America and were excellent hunters. They were less likely to gather plants or hunt smaller creatures. This strategy meant they were able to quickly spread across the continent, as they followed the migration of larger animals.
