Slate's Poetry Podcast

I saw a few of the reviews complaining about the sound quality were a few years old so I downloaded a handful of poems hoping Slate had corrected this. Unfortunately, the sound quality is still bad, distractingly so. The sound is reminiscent of a transatlantic phone call on a cheap cell phone, with some words not distinguishable above the white noise. No way to listen to a poem when you need to be able to hear every word. The sound quality on other Slate podcasts is not an issue so I'm not sure why this one has persistent problems. This is a great idea waiting for better execution.

Have loved the quality and variety of this but....they stopped adding poems inJune 2013 !

I'm a big fan of Slate, a big fan of poetry, and a big fan of podcasting, so this new podcast from Slate was clearly targeted directly at me and I subscribed with pleasure. Unfortunately, the first 4 podcasts are a mixed bag, not due to the quality of the poems themselves or the quality of the readers' performances, but solely because of the poor sound quality. Only the first poem, "Spring Comes to Ohio" is clear and easy to hear. The other other three all appear to have been read over the phone, with the reader at the bottom of a very deep well. Come on, Slate, I know you can do better!
