04: Ain't No Hood Like Motherhood

Welcome to NicheCast, a platform for people who have found their niche in this world. Every episode, we listen to different people discuss their origin stories and how they get “cast” into their niche, while trying to keep it all in under an hour. This episode is dedicated to all mommas, as we celebrate National Breastfeeding Awareness Month around the world. When we started this podcast, we knew we owed it to our listeners to talk about even the most difficult things to hear. This episode is a testament to that decision—an honest conversation about child-rearing with a mom of two kids under two years old during a pandemic. We wanted this episode to be a safe space for our guest, where she can freely talk about her experiences, so we advise mental and emotional preparation prior to listening to this episode as it may contain triggers related to motherhood and child-rearing. We also know the importance of unconditional love and support for moms, so we collated a list of support and resource groups for our listeners who are moms or those who are moms-to-be: For breastfeeding-specific support and counselling groups: Arugaan, Breastfeeding Pinays, L.A.T.C.H. Philippines, South PiNanays, Modern Nanays of Mindanao For general motherhood support groups: First Time Moms, Mommy Nation PH, Pregnant in the Philippines, Babywearing Philippines, Healthy Baby Food Ideas If you liked what you heard, please click the subscribe button to get alerts whenever we have updates. NicheCast is hosted by Eya Bisenio and co-produced by Bernice Caña. Thank you for your love and support! Guest Profile Madz is a full-time mommy of 2 young girls: 2-year-old Emma and 8-month-old Milly. While on a break from teaching children, she doesn't stray too far from the classroom as she is also currently enrolled in the Master's Program in Reading Education at UP Diliman. Her love for children revealed itself during her college years, which brought her to teaching. Now, she has a new calling, one that is even more demanding but just as rewarding -- motherhood. 03: The Green Witch of the East

Welcome to NicheCast, a platform for people who have found their niche in this world. Every episode, we listen to different people discuss their origin stories and how they get “cast” into their niche, while trying to keep it all in under an hour. We’re back with an exciting episode after an unexpected break! In this episode, we break unfair stereotypes towards magic with our favorite green witch from the east. We touch on witchery’s beginnings, its presence across spiritual practices and break down its demonization and reception in pop culture throughout the ages. We only ask that you listen to this episode with an open mind and heart, and let this conversation surprise you—witchery is something that is deeply rooted in nature and meant to be shared and cultivated, after all. 02: The Cafe Up The Mountain

Welcome to NicheCast, a platform for people who have found their niche in this world. Every episode, we listen to different people discuss their origin stories and how they get “cast” into their niche, while trying to keep it all in under an hour. For this episode, we put the spotlight on a friend’s family-owned business—its humble beginnings, early stages of conceptualization, and how it’s centered on recipes built on sharing not only mouthwatering food but the happy memories that come with it.
