    • Education

No ‘silver bullet’ can ever hope to solve the complex issue of biosecurity. That’s because it requires cooperation among everyone involved, as well as lots of time and patience to make it as effective as possible. In this episode, I talk to Dr. Derald Holtkamp about his experiences in mitigating risks of disease and helping veterinarians handle and prepare for outbreaks in their area by using standardized practices.

“Employees are being asked to do a lot for biosecurity, which can take up a lot of time from the workday – and we keep adding more things. Asking too much can cause certain measures to be done incorrectly, or not at all" - Dr. Derald Holtkamp

What you’ll learn:
Current trends with APP (Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae)How to communicate among multi-site staff membersBiosecurity - wean-to-finish vs sow farmsHow to enforce biosecurity measuresHow to help vets investigate and evaluate outbreaks
