We Need To Talk About Lucy Letby

A detailed look at the statistical case against Letby, flaws and all, is very interesting and hard to find. This podcast unfortunately is hard to listen to, with poor audio quality and constant blips/pops in the recording.

It’s fascinating to learn about the Letby case from a medical insider, a man also with lots of neonatal experience. It is also horrifying at the same time because as Michael says, the neonatal ward at Countess of Chester hospital was like a neonatal ward in a third world country. I have long known the NHS to be very flawed, my maternal Grandfather had managed to survivedWW2 only to be misdiagnosed, mistreated and killed age 57 by an NHS hospital. I never got to meet him, my Mother was in deep grief for twenty years after his death. She herself worked in an antenatal clinic as a medical records clerk, and had plenty of stories of coverups, doctors closing ranks, bullying, and scapegoating a nurse for a doctor’s fatal mistake. He got moved and promoted, the nurse was fired. So it is easy for me to see how this could happen to Lucy Letby. I was already convinced she had been scapegoated but now I have a comprehensive understanding of the case against Letby. Thank you so much Peter and Michael for creating this podcast and standing up for truth and honour. A wee request, Michael you need a microphone as it’s a little difficult to hear what you are saying at times, and I am hanging off every word from both of you. And no adverts! Heavenly… The case against Letby is without doubt, the worst miscarriage of justice. I’m appalled. As everyone with an iota of critical thinking ought to be.

This podcast is one of the few places that actually explains this case from a medical perspective. The conviction is a travesty. Ten years from now we will be talking about statistical bias as the forced confession and satanic panic of this decade. Why? Because as the world’s wealthiest countries experience greater demographic pressure, medical systems including the NHS are coming under increasing strain. Nurses are the easiest scapegoats. In the midst of nurse shortages, this hospital cut budgets and made redundant some of its most experienced nurses the year before this tragedy. Imagine managing a new trainee while taking care of three tiny babies, and then years later being convicted (by a majority of jurors) of crimes that did not happen, based on the hunch of a tv personality Dr, just because you showed up and worked more than any of your colleagues.
