Another short bonus episode for you, ahead of County's first pre-season game on Saturday at Bristol Manor Farm - and one that features a time capsule from a year ago, when we asked four listeners to send us a voicenote predicting how County would fare in 2024/25 based on the friendlies they'd just watched. Listen and learn what they got right and wrong. We featuring the voices of Hwyligan, Amber Arnie, Stu and also our sadly-departed friend, Ollie Allen, whose voicenote we used with the kind permission of his mum. We hope that - like us - you enjoy hearing his voice again, odd though it may feel. At the heart of the episode is hopefully a welcome reminder to not worry too much about the result and performances over the next few weeks. Robbie takes us through his two stints at the club, including those memorable games where he lit up the small screens with breathtaking performances. He also speaks candidly about his approach to management and the coaches who inspired him. Plus, after two seasons playing for Barry Town, his thoughts on the calibre of the Cymru leagues in light of the club’s recent recruitment strategy.     As players, coaches and fans take a well-earned breather, we sat down for a lengthy chat with County chairman Huw Jenkins to look back at a rollercoaster season and to ask how the club might steer itself into calmer waters. Mr Jenkins gave an open and honest assessment of what went wrong last year, but also in explaining what lessons have been learned from it, and why fans should keep the faith. We also touch on whether any future investment might be forthcoming, club communications, and the relationship with the Dragons and Newport Council. We'd like to put on record our thanks to Mr Jenkins for speaking with us.     Ep274 of the pod saw us review probably the craziest game of football any of us have ever seen, as Newport County came from behind to win 3-2 in the 108th minute against Oldham Athletic, putting us on the cusp of retaining our Football League status. A breathtaking game, with goals galore, a sending off, a missed penalty, a lengthy injury - all it needed was a dog on the pitch and it would have had everything. Many of you joined us after the game at the Riverside - but the sheer volume of background noise plus a technical SNAFU meant that the audio was sadly unusable. We're really sorry, but hope that those of you who came along enjoyed being part of the pod family over a beer or two. We were certainly grateful for your company. In lieu of that recording, Jamie and Ed hastily got together virtually on Sunday to relive a truly unforgettable day.
