The Disgruntled PM

I’m not a PM, nor am I disgruntled for that matter 😅 yet I still really got a lot from the 2 episodes of this show I’ve listened to so far. 1. I appreciate the conversational nature of it. Not overproduced. But lots of insight to be had. 2. Both episodes I listened to had non-PM experts on. They had fascinating depth of expertise in their domain (sleep, military ops, etc), so their perspectives would be interesting no matter what. But wanted to call out that Trevor, the host, does a good job of subtly tying in these insights & learnings for the benefit of his target audience of PMs, without alienating non-PMs like me 🙌

I absolutely love this podcast. The content is down-to-earth, relatable, and packed with real-world experiences that hit home for anyone who's worked in project management—or even adjacent to it. The stories and examples are refreshingly honest, often funny, and always insightful. It's a rare mix of practical advice and cathartic truth-telling that makes you feel seen. Highly recommend for PMs who want more than just textbook theory.

I was expecting more actionable, technically descriptive, and content driven episodes. Instead, it is very high level and lacking depth. Storytelling is typically an important skill for PMs, and with the tenure and success touted, I was expecting something more compelling in terms of public speaking. The number of times the hosts verbally high 5 each other over barely anything rivals only the number of times you’ll hear one of them say, “…At the end of the day.” They lost me when they attempted to equate waterfall project management with Agile. There are no PMs in Agile… hybrid at best.
