Originally constructed in 1995, the Hutchinson Island Shore Protection Project was created to stabilize a critically eroded section of coastline. Over the past three decades, ongoing monitoring and adaptive management strategies have produced significant environmental benefits, including strengthened dune systems, a wider and more resilient beach, and enhanced nesting habitat for sea turtles. Today, the project serves as a national model for data-driven coastal management, demonstrating how strategic restoration efforts can successfully preserve dynamic beach ecosystems while delivering lasting environmental, recreational, and community benefits. _________________________________________________________________________ Martin County Florida - Your County.
