Who is Sitting on the Throne?

What does it actually mean to be filled with the Holy Spirit? The apostles certainly knew the answer to that question. In this episode, we continue our look at the early chapters of Acts and explore a simple biblical answer to a question that can often feel confusing or mysterious. Using passages from Colossians, Ephesians, Hebrews, Psalms, and Romans, we discuss how the Christian life begins by faith and continues the exact same way. We’ll look at why Paul compares being filled with the Spirit to being under the influence of wine, how sin can leave us spiritually depleted, and a practical daily pathway of confession, forgiveness, repentance, and surrender that helps keep Christ in His rightful place and be filled with the Holy Spirit daily. The question isn’t whether something or someone is competing for your attention. The question is: who is sitting on the throne of your heart? A Path From Bondage to Freedom: Jealousy, Boldness and Dashboard Warning Lights

But what exactly were they jealous of, and what does that reveal about the human heart? Together we explore how power, control, influence, approval, and status can quietly become idols that compete with our devotion to God. Looking through Acts 5, James 4, Galatians 5, and other passages, we discuss how sinful desires lead to bondage, how God exposes what rules our hearts, and how true freedom is found through confession, surrender, and obedience to Christ. This episode is an invitation to honestly examine our own hearts, recognize the “warning lights” God graciously reveals, and walk in the freedom that comes from following Jesus wholeheartedly. The Art of Brief Gospel Conversations

On this episode we get into some practical ways to share the gospel in a concise manner, based on directives from Jesus in Matthew 28:19 and Acts 1:8. A personal story is shared as a way to look at a practical example of how this could be lived out either in a natural disaster or maybe even in the grocery store parking lot. Emphasis on simple yet effective methods such as asking straightforward questions about knowing Jesus and then suggestions of how to accept Jesus’ free gift of grace are discussed. The importance of preparation, prayer, and community support in evangelism is also highlighted. Navigating Blindness: A Journey Towards Sight.

In this episode of the Three is One podcast, we begin exploring Jesus’s sermon in Luke chapter six. Specifically we look at verses 39-40, discussing the metaphor of the blind leading the blind and how disciples can become like their teacher, Jesus. Discussion points in this episode include the importance of discipleship, referencing scripture to underline that Christians are called to grow to be more like Jesus, and then guide others towards Him in making more disciples (Matthew 28:19). Food That Truly Satisfies... John 4:31-42

This episode of the Three is One podcast, hosted by Jon Helton, explores the conclusion of the story from John chapter 4 where Jesus speaks to the Samaritan woman at the well (see episode 3 for part 1). In part 2 of this discussion, Jesus teaches what true spiritual nourishment is with his disciples. We reflect on Jesus’ teachings about doing God’s will as a form of sustenance, emphasizing the satisfaction found in spiritual rather than physical food. I share some personal stories about solitude and fasting, illustrating how these practices have deepened my spiritual connection with my heavenly Father. The episode ends with applications of the story to encourage listeners to seek deeper intimacy with God through scripture and personal reflection in a quiet time. Scripture progression through Jesus doing the will of his Father to completion: * John 4:34 Jesus says his food is to do the will of his Father and to finish his work. * Isaiah 55:10-11 God’s word shall not return to him void. It will accomplish every purpose for which it was sent. The gospel of John also refers to Jesus as “the Word”. Hmm… * John 19:30 Jesus finishes his mission and cries out “it is finished” from the cross and then gives up his spirit. * Luke 9:23 If you want to be a disciple of Jesus then you must deny yourself, take up your cross and follow him daily. Jesus modeled an example of how we are called to live. * John 4:36 The culmination of what Jesus models is a partnership of work being done that results in an eternal harvest and true joy found in relationship between sower and reaper.
