Rebecca Casey (@pretty_handsome_everyday ) and creative director Beatrice Benedek sat down for a cuppa and discussed all things sewing and fashion! Rebecca will take you through the highs and lows of creating your own garments from scratch, the joy it brings with it and her most challenging projects which turned out to be her most successful garments. She started experimenting with sewing and garment making about fourteen years ago! But getting into a proper rhythm, both in sewing projects as well as writing about them, followed around 2016. Rebecca started documenting her love for vintage inspired garments as well as fashion, when she launched her blog Pretty Handsome Everyday. In these digital entrees she details her processes of sewing, the fabrics she's using, the patterns she's working with and the collaborations she's been invited to. And as a bonus, you also get her thoughts on projects various other topics she is passionate about, like books, days out and baking. Her range of style is heavily inspired by different vintage periods, patterns and designs. Her original garments bring the romantic era to everyday life, incorporating fun experimentations with garments for all ages and genders. On top of all her remarkable sewing capabilities, she achieves all these clothes by using deadstock and second life fabrics, making her art sustainable AF. In a collaboration with “The Sewcialists” blog, Rebecca also took sustainability further by creatively managing a zero waste sewing project. She partnered up with various other companies (which you can check out in the links below👇), thus broadening her sewing skills, fabric choices, and overall outreach to other fellow sewers in the online community. You can definitely find all kinds of inspiring, nostalgic yet refreshing handmade outfits on her Instagram page, where she regularly posts her progress, new designs and exciting projects that she is working on.
