    Nightmare on Elm Street - 40's On The 80's

    With 2025's Scarefest Weekend concluded and a gathering of all the remaining Nightmare Alumni, it is only fitting that we release a new episode dedicted to The Nightmare on Elm Street.  Word has it that Robert Englund will be getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Halloween! It's no wonder that this conversation led us into discovering WHY this film is so memorable and also uncovering the fact that it's inducted into the national film registry.  It has been a while since we released a new episode so for those still clinging on.... thanks for allowing us back into your ear-holes. So let's count it off and get ready to release more episodes soon for Season 2 of '40's On The 80's'  Ready? 1.....2..... Red, Rick and Dan are coming for you.... 3....4..... better lock your doors

    Tribute to Val Kilmer - 40's On The 80's

    Val Edward Kilmer was an artist, first and foremost. While most of us know him from his films, he started out as  a stage actor who later found fame on the silver screen. Ironically, some of his most memorable characters cast him in the supporting role such as 'Iceman' in Top Gun and 'Doc Holiday' in Tombstone. His films covered a wide variety of genres including comedies, dramas, action adventures, westerns, historical films, crime dramas, science fiction films, and fantasy films.  Looking back at my own past, I can absolutely see my fashion sense and sense of humor were inspired by his characters in Real Genius and Top Secret.  I had the honor of meeting Mr. Kilmer at the Denver Comic Con and I'm happy to report that he was a gracious celebrity who loved his fans.

    Elements of a Christmas Movie - 40's On The 80's

    Keep the change, ya filthy animals! Well, here's another episode for those of you that are keeping score. It officially marks the end of our first season. We've been working on building our inventory for season 2 and before too long, you'll begin go to see those coming down the pipe.  So, even though Christmas is well past... here are some golden nuggets of our monkey-brained opinions on what it takes to actually have a movie be considered a 'Christmas Film.'   We hope you'll enjoy and hope to hear from you..... anyone.....     Die Hard (Deep Dive Part 2) - 40's On The 80's Film Review

    Yippee Ki Yay!  It's a new year and your boys are still here. We're wrapping up Season 1 and will soon be ready to begin releasing Season 2. We enjoy our rides down memory lane and would love to know what you guys think. Seriously.... any and all comments are welcome.  This episode picks up where we left off with Die Hard (Deep Dive Part 1) and with a movie like this.... there is a never-ending supply of things we can say. But we did our best to wrap it all up here.

    Die Hard (Deep Dive Part 1) - 40's On The 80's Film Review

    Even though the film, Die Hard, is one of my all time favorites.... recording this deep dive turned into a true labor of love!  Between scheduling, researching, tech issues, re-records..... last year I felt almost 'over-dosed' on John McClain and Hans Gruber.  This year, I've kept the viewing to a bare minimum and I am saving it for my traditional Christmas Eve presentation. "It isn't Christmas until Hans Gruber falls from Nakatomi towers!"

    Lethal Weapon (Deep Dive Part 2) - 40's On The 80's Film Review

    Personally, I have alot of fun doing the deep dives. It reminds me so much of one of my favorite shows of all time, MST3K. "It's like watching a favorite movie with some of your funniest friends." So if you are into details and picking apart one of the great action/buddy-cop films of all time... then here's your golden ticket to grab your dead-beat uncle Joe and visit us at our factory of film analysis.

    Lethal Weapon (Deep Dive Part 1) - 40's On The 80's Film Review

    Merry X-Mas.... Yo Yo Yo!  In the City of Angels, anything can happen. And when the yule-tide, action bug kicks in, one of the greatest titles you will find is the classic cop-buddy film, Lethal Weapon. We really spent a lot of time digging into this one and keep in mind.... we ended up having to chop this one into two parts or risk damaging the brains of you toxic avengers with the netflix level attention spans.  So grab your berretta, roll across the floor and fire up some Christmas spirit!

    Cobra (Revisited) - 40's On The 80's Film Review

    What can we say? We LOVE this film, so we put it through the paces of our re-vamped analysis system and took another look at Cobra. THIS time, we invited our Millenial brother to lead the discussion and asked him to quiz us on the insanity that is contained within this film.  And just out of curiosity, would anyone like to see this movie re-made? But this time, taking place in Seattle, where the Axe Gang was born from a group of disgruntled lumberjacks.... masters of all things that can cut!  With their axes the ONLY weapon they use, even during high speed chases between cars and motorcycles. I know I would like to see that!
