Four Worlds Torah Episode 28 : All You Need is Love

Four Worlds Torah Episode 28 : All You Need is Love

Rabbi Charna Rosenholtz and Rabbi Shoshana Leis discuss the ancient Hebrew wisdom of Torah through a contemporary lens.

This week, the Rabbis discuss Parashat Eikev
(https://www.sefaria.org/Deuteronomy.7.12?lang=bi&aliyot=0) through the lenses of consumption, coveting, and love.

    Deuteronomy 8:2

Remember the long way that your God יהוה has made you travel in the wilderness these past forty years, in order to test you by hardships to learn what was in your hearts: whether you would keep the divine commandments or not.

    Deuteronomy 8:5-6

Bear in mind that your God יהוה disciplines you just as a householder disciplines his son.

Therefore keep the commandments of your God יהוה: walk in God’s ways and show reverence.

    Deut. 10:16

Cut away, therefore, the thickening about your hearts and stiffen your necks no more.

How can I bear unaided the trouble of you, and the burden, and the bickering!

Give for yourselves from each of your tribes candidates who are wise, discerning, and experienced, and I will appoint them as your heads.”

Four Worlds Torah Episode 25: 42 Journeys

Four Worlds Torah Episode 25: 42 Journeys

Rabbi Charna Rosenholtz and Rabbi Shoshana Leis discuss the ancient Hebrew wisdom of Torah through a contemporary lens.

This week, the Rabbis discuss Parashat Masei (https://www.sefaria.org/Numbers.33.1?lang=bi&aliyot=0) through the lenses of journeys, oscillatory movement, and relationships.

    Numbers 33:1-2

These were the journeys of the Israelites who started out from the land of Egypt, in their tribal bands, by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

Moses recorded the springing forth and breaking camp as directed by the mouth of יהוה. These journeys that sprang forth, were as follows:

    Exodus 14:2
