Santa Susana Nuclear Disaster w/ Shervin Aazami

Santa Susana Nuclear Disaster w/ Shervin Aazami

This week our spooky month keeps rolling right along as we are joined by community organizer and congressional candidate (CA-30) Shervin Aazami to talk about the Santa Susana Nuclear Disaster! That's right, a nuclear reactor had a meltdown in the Valley's backyard in 1959 and the effects are being felt by people and the environment to this very day. Oh, and most people didn't know about it until 20 years after it happened. Classic stuff.

Long Time Listener First Time Reviewer

A fun ride for folks who were kids in the 90s Valley. I was not, but I am raising two kids who are kids in the 20s Valley, and it’s illuminating to listen to the nostalgia that Leah, Andrew, and Albert have for their Valley and to imagine what nostalgia my kids will have when they’re older. Lots of shaggy dog stories in this show, but some really great insights and the Santa Susana episode was next level.

This podcast rips! Being from the valley is a huge part of who I am so this show is the perfect podcast for me. The hosts are fun and funny! I hope they cover Keyes on Van Nuys! Big ups!

818 Til I Die

My favorite podcast that I don’t ever fail to listen to every Tuesday. Although I no longer live in the valley, it will always be home for me. Albert, Leah and Andrew all remind me of friends I grew up with. The only bummer of the show is that they don’t rep the north west valley enough - Porter ranch, Granada hills, Chatsworth, Northridge. Holler at yer girl if you need content. Love what you’re all doing!
