    Home is a place you can bring with you wherever you go

    Dear Listener, In this episode of the podcast, I push my comfort zone by recording in a public park in a new city I’ve never been to. Despite having a soft voice, I press publish anyway. I also talk about not letting travel throw me off my center by staying on top of my foundational practices, such as meditation, food habits, and creative expression, and how home is somewhere you can bring with you wherever you go. Last week I was feeling a little overwhelmed and indecisive about that, but it’s starting to settle in now. Moving my podcast hosting platform from Spotify to Substack was definitely a good move. Not only did it streamlined my process, it also is making it psychologically clear that my podcast is my daily letter. It’s just another form of it. All of my social media platforms, for that matter, are just different ways to capture and express the same mind-stream that’s flowing through me. I feel like I’ve found a nice cadence, simplicity, and trust with all of this, and I’m excited to keep flowing with it. This is a public episode.     Dear Reader, What an interesting development! I started writing this morning’s letter, but it started to feel forced; I felt called to record it as a video, and cross publish it to the very 300k channel I’ve been having the dilemma about! Below is the letter I had started writing in case you’re curious; then I’ll invite you to watch (or listen) if you want to continue the thread. Cheers. Good morning. It’s 7:00AM. I woke up with that buzzing creative energy again, which manifested as gross agitation during my morning meditation—which lasted 16 minutes. I’m hoping to build up my practice up to 45 minutes again if I can, which is the daily sit time recommended in The Mind Illuminated. I’m brewing a cup of decaf coffee now. This is funny but literally at 6:59AM I cancelled the letter I wrote yesterday that was scheduled to go out at 7:00AM today. I’ve been in a flow of scheduling letters to go out the morning after I write them, which has been bothering me for a few reasons. The main reason being it gives me 24 hours to overthink what I wrote, which has led to me going back and editing letters that didn’t need to be edited. So I decided in this very moment, let me end this cycle now by cancelling that last letter, and I’ll send this one out immediately once I finish writing it. So here we are. Ah, what to say in this one… At this point, I switched to recording a video. If you’d like to hear the current updates, go ahead and give it a listen.     Hi guys, You probably already know this, but in addition to publishing a daily letter on Substack—and posting all sorts of other content all over the place too—I also record a weekly video podcast. Today I got into a bit of on overthinking spiral about whether to keep doing both the letters and the podcast, since there tends to be a lot of overlap between them. At some point today, I also changed podcast hosting platforms—from Spotify to Substack—as part of my Walden Year energy of simplifying & consolidating platforms. It just sorta happened. After the podcast fully switched over to Substack (which still distributes to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, & even YouTube, by the way) I suddenly became a bit worried that I was making my Substack too cluttered and that I’d annoy people with two emails coming through on Fridays. However… I did post this one time on Instagram… So… erm…I guess here goes! Something I could do if enough people reply to this email and tell me “I’m annoyed” is I could uncheck the “email” button when I post podcast episodes to Substack, that way they will just show up on the podcast platforms like normal without any emails coming through. But also… As Arthur Russel once said… It’s my worldIt’s my songDidn’t ask you to come along! So you can always just unfollow me if you’re annoyed. No but seriously I love you guys dearly.Dearly.
