    #100 Why joy beats motivation every time - the secret to long-term success

    If you have set a long-term target for yourself – that can be finding a (better) job or running a marathon – what you need to be successful is NOT motivation, it’s also NOT discipline, but it is: JOY! Here is why: When you set yourself a target, you will have a huge initial motivation – but this will drop after a few days or weeks.Discipline alone might keep you going, but just push you to do something in a painful way.But when you enjoy the process you will keep going! Simply because you like it! And it will increase your chances to succeed, because other people can feel it if you put real passion into something. I had committed myself in autumn 2021 right after I launched this podcast that I want to produce 100 episodes. I am so proud to reach this target now here today! 100 episodes after 3,5 years! And what was the biggest contributor to that was indeed the joy that I had with coming up with topics, talking into a microphone, cutting and publishing the episodes and promoting them on social media. With this milestone, I am also deciding to stop here. This 100th episode is also the last one so far of the ‘Spotlight your TRUE self’ podcast. Of course, all published episodes will stay online. What I will do next is setting up my career coaching business and I will definitely continue to be very active on Social Media to share my thoughts and interact with you there.     #99 High salary, higher stress: The hidden cost of climbing the corporate ladder

    If you are currently unemployed, you might think getting a job is what you need to make your life alright. However, there is something wrong in corporate companies – making having a job feeling anything else than “alright”: Permanent contracts are offered first, while positions might get discontinued one year later, so the security you are looking for does not exist.While the workload gets higher, companies cut costs and therefore positions, leaving more work distributed onto less employees which leads to higher pressure and stress levels.While bad managers support such a system and ‘nourish’ the mental struggles of their people, good leaders eventually break under their own stress level after juggling the problems of their own people against slow or nontransparent decision-making of the higher management and weird company politics. I have been there. And questioned at some point that the nice high salary I had as a manager and team lead compensates for my health going down in such a system. In this episode I share my very personal experience what I have observed happening with my own health while I was working as a manager – and how I saw my body changing after my lay-off. It is time to question the system! I always wanted people to have a fulfilling career – but not for sacrificing their health for a job and suffering under bad leadership!     #97 Boost your LinkedIn visibility: Writing posts that resonate and engage

    “Your network is your net-worth!” – So, who do you make the most out of your LinkedIn network, and especially grow your networking contacts by creating well-visible content? However, I know that many people either don’t like writing, don’t know what to write or don’t know how to translate their expertise into a text that resonates with anyone. So they end up with posting without plan – and get frustrated because they don’t get any views or reactions. During the last 12 months I have managed to create multiple LinkedIn posts with multiple thousands or 10’000s views. And when I published that I will be fired, the post went viral and has reached 180’000 views until today. And this is what I want for anyone else as well to reach something like this! Because based on this viral post I was flooded with supporting comments, contact requests, messages from people suggesting me to have a meeting, share my CV with them or that they can connect me to their own employers.     Kingsley grew up in Nigeria and just turned 18, when his parents died at a car accident. Suddenly he had the full responsibility for his four younger sisters, the youngest just being 7 years old.
