I’ve been enjoying your podcast quite a bit! I’m an avid female fantasy reader, and a fan of most of the series you used as comparisons (Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones —- Also Gilmore Girls and Heartland, which is totally a real show about horses and it’s great! It’s Canada’s longest running TV series actually). I feel like your analysis of the book is valid and fair, and it’s nice to hear the male perspective. I appreciated that you still kept things positive and pointed things you liked, didn’t like, and your predictions. It was fun hearing your predictions when I totally knew how it was going to play out. I’ve been a huge Sarah J. Maas fan since I discovered Throne of Glass in 2013. I would love to hear you do that series next, though it is quite a commitment. I think you’ll find it’s significantly tamer in regards to bedroom scenes than Maas’s other series. I do have a question for you, have either of you read the Eragon (Inheritance Cycle)? I expected you to make comparisons to that series, but it never came up. If you haven’t, I think you’d enjoy it, and I’d love to hear you talk about that one as well (though it doesn’t fit the “books your wife has probably read” theme of this podcast, unless you’re specifically talking to my husband lol!). Thanks for putting this together, and I’m excited to hear the last episode in a couple weeks!
Edit: Dropped a star because as far as I can tell there is no other way to comment on the podcast other than editing my review. They could really benefit from starting an Instagram or Discord for the show where people could leave comments/predictions and they could post their schedule of when the next episodes for the next book will come out. Anyway, I’m thrilled they picked the Throne of Glass series to read next. I love hearing their predictions when I absolutely know what’s going to happen. But I’m am WORRIED they keep saying there 7 books in the series. There are 8! Assassin’s Blade is a complete story even if it’s made up of novellas, and they will do this story an injustice if they discount it and don’t go back and read it before they get to Queen of Shadows.
