@fatarae ,

A little bit of compassion goes a long way.

I really appreciate this podcast. My Mom, long gone now, used to say, “there but for the grace of God, go I.”
While I do not subscribe to the religious tone, the sentiment is nonetheless perfect.
We, as a society, treat the houseless abhorrently. A little bit of compassion goes a long way.

People are tired of dealing with this issue

The current situation in Washington State involves long-standing efforts to address homelessness by providing housing, which has led to increased taxation and challenges for local residents. Despite the provision of low-barrier housing, some individuals prefer living outdoors, and I talk with those people who come into Jail and refuse assistance that social workers are offering. This has contributed to safety concerns in public spaces like parks, with reports of drug paraphernalia, high crime rates, and individuals with mental health issues present, leading to a sense of insecurity among the community. Additionally, the rise in deaths related to drug use highlights the pressing need for improved access to mental health and addiction treatment services. The community is questioning the effectiveness of existing approaches, urging for more comprehensive solutions to tackle these complex issues and prevent further tragedies. I'm not sure why your reporters aren't more focused on saving people's lives and advocating for MH, treatment centers, and housing for clean.
Sometimes you have to wonder how much people are paid, like for a job in the King County Regional Housing. People were getting paid over 100,000 a year to be on the board and yet nothing was getting fixed and if anything things seemed to get worse.
