A Player King
A Producer, Director, and Actor of Shakespeare in Southern California for over 40 years, Tom Bradac's artistic career was spent creating and producing professional theatre locally, nationally and internationally. Thomas F. Bradac, as he is professionally known, was the founding artistic director of the Grove Shakespeare Festival, Shakespeare Orange County, a founding member of the now international professional organization Shakespeare Theatre Association, and a professor of acting Shakespeare and directing at Chapman University for over three decades. This podcast, recorded over two days, is an imperfect oral history and auobiographical account of Thomas F. Bradac's professional career with his colleague, artistic partner, and friend, Michael Nehring; it captures a period of American theatre from the late 1960s to 2013, and a career dedicated to the works of William Shakespeare. We've cut around some of Tom and Michael's shorthand and tangential paths of thought. Sometimes there are word fumbles, sometimes the transitions of conversation are abrupt- it is, much like theatre itself, imperfect, yet through its imperfection is honest and real.
