Surfers have often been portrayed in the media and pop culture as vapid burnouts with seawater dripping from our nose and ears. My day job as a studio artist doesn’t allow me to speak to many people , and when I do, I find it difficult to command anyone’s attention. This podcast is my attempt to examine and highlight extraordinary characters and places that shape the lives of surfers.. surfing, travel, religion and conspiracy theories are the subjects that dominate my thinking .

This is a story based on actual events. I blended them together with a dream that I had and rumors that were explained to me from first hand accounts.     Kary Mullis| Surfer, Nobel Prize winning chemist, LSD enthusiast, lothario, climate change skeptic

    Dr. Kary Banks Mullis was a fascinating and complicated man. After winning a Nobel Prize in 1993 the first thing he did was go surfing. His discovery has been called the most important in the last century and it has been used to exonerate falsely accused men on death row; and most recently we have all been faced with being tested by a product of his method. His mysterious death in 2019 has led some people to believe that there is more to the story.     Nias | Discovering a wave of a lifetime and a murderous plot.Shamans Surfers headhunters&Christians

    In this episode I'll tell you the origin story of surfing at Nias Island's Lagundri Bay. 3 Australian surfers made the discovery of a wave that has become as sacred to surfers, as Mecca is to Muslims.
