Fascinating Show
Ok, confession: I don’t particularly like Devo. Before listening to this I only knew them as “the Whip It band”, and I’ve listened to every song after listening to the episode here. I’ve really liked some songs but it’s a mixed bag, and Devo will always just be an eh band for me. So I found this show differently than a lot of listeners. But you know what? It turns out I LOVE learning about Devo.
These 4 review every song (alphabetically) and I enjoy the stories, the analysis, the Synth Reports, finally working out who the various members of Devo are, rooting for the drummer to get to do something... Whether agreeing with what they’ve rated the song or not, it’s always a good time listening to them explain how they arrived at that grade.
Perfect way to get to know a band. And I’ve got a lot of new songs for my personal mix tape
Best podcast
This is my favorite podcast. I am really far behind, but when I catch up I’m gonna start listening to the weekend mutations (already a subscriber).
As a huge devo fan and an avid listener I am learning all kinds of new things and gaining a new appreciation for songs I might have formerly overlooked. I really look forward to the mix tape at the end. I wish they would post all the Spotify suggestions and the songs they correlate to somewhere.
Glad this was recommend to me by a Star Wars minute officianado because I don’t often search for devo podcasts.
Something about this podcast makes me want to clear my throat
When Saturday Night Live broadcast the Space Pants skit, I felt like it was created just for me. I felt the same way when I discovered ABCDevo.
The hosts have created an intellegent and entertaining discussion of the sound of things falling apart.
