Abstract Essay, in its sixth season, features Cinda Gault, a writer whose enduring interest in women’s lives brings depth, empathy, and historical awareness to every conversation. In this episode, we explore how personal narratives illuminate broader

Cinda Gault l am a writer of stories about tenacious women who will have their adventures, whether in the 19th-century wilderness or contemporary urban settings My name is Cinda Gault, and I have an enduring interest in women’s lives. My undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Guelph led me to start an agency to help victims of domestic violence. I followed up a stint as a prison guard with an M.A. degree in Criminology from the University of Toronto. Inspired to complete a Ph.D. in English from York University, I analyzed Canadian women’s writing from the “identity years” of 1965-1980. For another book, I wondered why Canada was the only western country with no abortion law and found answers in literary depictions. My own fiction started with romance and developed into indie literary and historical fiction. My stories envision tenacious women who will have their adventures, whether in the 19th-century wilderness or contemporary urban settings. Interest in female lives is taking a new turn as my spouse and I expand our tribe from two sons to two granddaughters! Mark Roesler I’m the president of a software company that created an app so you can do SEO, marketing, and ops right from your phone—so you can stop duct-taping apps together-and somehow we give it away for free Mark Roesler has been building things that last for decades — whether it’s a revenue engine, a sales team, or a three-set night on stage. Long before he was scaling SaaS revenue as President and CRO of HubSpark and engineering sales systems from the ground up, he was fronting rock bands from the age 17 and still rocking to this day, learning how to read a room, lead from the front, and never miss a beat. That blend of discipline and heart shows up everywhere in his career: from delivering a peak $4.3M in annual revenue as an individual contributor, to leading teams of 20+, to closing high-value deals with an impressive close rate. Add to that 24 years clean and sober — built on accountability, integrity, and follow-through — and you get someone people trust instinctively. Mark doesn’t just talk about results; he’s lived them, earned them, and kept his word long enough for those results to compound.
