The first ACE Talk is out! We sat down with Giuseppe "Gappy" Paleologo, the Global Head of Quantitative Research at Balyasny Asset Management. He started out as a physicist, spent nearly a decade at IBM Research and ended up as one of the most respected figures in systematic investing. We cover everything from how to actually break into the field, what hiring managers are really looking for, how practitioners think about alpha and factor models, the role of AI in systematic investing and a few life lessons at the end that have nothing to do with finance.
