Went for a walk without my headphones t'other day. Was early, north of seven in the morning. Couple of cars scurrying around my particular corner of suburbia. Their sounds barely registering. My dog and I wear bells when we walk, because the coyotes respect the bells, and avoid us. Coyotes don't enjoy the peals and tones. But they know that we do, so they let us well alone. We wear our music as armour. The stylish kind, fur lined. Cozy. Not too heavy. Light as sound.Playlist: Audrey Ochoa - The Green PlaceOra Cogan - Too LateEm Spel - Bird Or SnakeIntermontane Superterrane - The Chickadee SongMiki Yamanaka - Trinkle TinkleKNEECAP - AN RAVarious Artists - Afifa El Hawa by Al MassrieenRon - Kozak Nedley: Traditional Ukrainian Folk DanceRon - Fox Trot Medley: So Long, It's Been Good To Know You / Till We Meet Again / Home, Sweet Homebugswallow - all crittersThe Stooges - DirtRalph Sutton - Cataract RagElvis Costello and the Attractions - Shabby DollThe Irish Rovers - Two Little BoysThe Cameroon Choristers, featuring John F. Acheulean Age - Episode April 4, 2026

Been noticing osprey nests a lot more recently, but I don't think the ospreys have migrated north yet, too early, they prefer to arrive in May. When I was in uni, I knew the ospreys would arrive right after my last final exam, or right when my last final paper was due. I'm noticing last year's osprey nests more now because I want to see the ospreys, so my brain is training my eyes to pick out evidence of osprean nature. I, like the rivers, am readying myself for spring, and her incoming guests.Playlist: Johnny Smith, featuring Don Lamond (drums), Arnold Fishkin (bass), Perry Lopez (rhythm guitar) - I'll Remember AprilAndrew MacKelvie's Many Worlds - Mirror EraBig Country - In A Big CountryAnne Murray, featuring Amy Grant - Could I Have This DanceNat Jaffe Trio, featuring Nat Jaffe (piano), Remo Palmieri (guitar), Leo Guarnieri (bass) - A Hundred Years From Todayfferlys - good morning, mr. magpieThe Sheepdogs - The OwlKing Biscuit Boy with Crowbar - Biscuit's BoogieBlack Sabbath - Planet CaravanCarter Felker - FrancineEm Spel - The PoetHellripper - The Art Of ResurrectionKenny Baker - Little JazzJay Coda Walker & Pete Johnson - Wicked GameThe Red Hot Chili Pipers - Rory McLeod / Molly's Jig / The Famous BaravanIan Wollman, featuring Derek Piotr - Twisty Fist / The Mouth That Eats The NoseThe Polyjesters - Is She Really Going out With Him?Jeff Beck - Rock My PlimsoulJosh White, featuring Jacques Wolf - I Got A Head Like A RockLeahy - The Call To DanceHotfoot Quintet - These Old BluesGreat Big Sea - Excursion Around The BayCharley Crockett - Fastest Gun AliveCounting Crows - Sullivan Street
