    Acheulean Age - Episode July 4, 2026

Been reading the book "An Old Woman's Reflections: The Life of a Blasket Island Storyteller" by Peig Sayers, recently. Peig was illiterate, and only spoke and knew Irish, called Gaelic at the time. And yet, her son's transcription of her stories and translation into English really conveys her warmth, melody, and idiom/myth phrases, in a way that with almost no other book I've read I feel not just that I know Peig, but that she knows me. I hope I can leave some sort of media that carries even just a fraction of a whisper of a murmur of that personhood and connection. I hope you hear Peig thru-in your days, too.Playlist: Susan Raye and the Buck Owens Band, featuring Leanne Scott - Calgary International AirportThe Ratskin Family Band - TruckerGreat Uncles Of The Revolution, featuring Andrew Downing, Kevin Turcotte, Jesse Zubot, Steve Dawson - When We Were LittleBlu Beach Band - DogwaterLeeroy Stagger - Summer RainJoan MacIsaac - Mister You Stole That Song (From Me)Grouyan Gombo - La prairie54-40 - Crossing A Canyon (Unplugged)Alan & Jan - ProgressJim Croce - Workin' At The Car Wash BluesJanis Joplin - Little Girl Blue (Live)Oak Park High Stage Band 1988, featuring Gary Pollard - CortezUncle Neptune - I Love That I'm So In Love With YouThe Langley Schools Music Project - Space OddityBeck - True Love Will Find You In The EndBig Wreck - AroundThe Fall - Bill Is DeadBilly Joel - Through The Long NightMaximilian Torsten - Rosen Lieben Blauen TrauerPatricia Murray & Jim Smith, featuring Kim Vincent (guitar), Margie Carmichael-Scotto (guitar), Gordon Belsher (bass), Scott MacAulay (Highland bagpipes) - The Water Is WideFraser & Debolt (With Ian Guenther) - The Waltze Of The Tennis Players
