"여러분은 오늘까지 열나흘 동안이나 마음을 졸이며 아무것도 먹지 못하고 굶고 지냈습니다. As day was about to dawn, Paul urged them all to take some food, saying, “Today is the fourteenth day that you have continued in suspense and without food, having taken nothing. 34 그래서 나는 여러분들에게 음식을 먹으라고 권합니다. 그래야 여러분은 목숨을 유지할 힘을 얻을 것입니다. 여러분 가운데서 아무도 머리카락 하나라도 잃지 않을 것입니다." Therefore I urge you to take some food. For it will give you strength, for not a hair is to perish from the head of any of you.” 35 바울은 이렇게 말하고 나서, 빵을 들어, 모든 사람 앞에서 하나님께 감사를 드리고, 떼어서 먹기 시작하였다. And when he had said these things, he took bread, and giving thanks to God in the presence of all he broke it and began to eat. 36 그러자 사람들은 모두 용기를 얻어서 음식을 먹었다. Then they all were encouraged and ate some food themselves. 37 배에 탄 우리의 수는 모두 이백일흔여섯 명이었다. (We were in all 276 persons in the ship.) 38 사람들이 음식을 배부르게 먹은 뒤에, 남은 식량을 바다에 버려서 배를 가볍게 하였다. And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, throwing out the wheat into the sea. 39 날이 새니, 어느 땅인지는 알 수 없지만, 모래밭이 있는 항만이 보였다. 그래서 그들은 어떻게 해서든지, 배를 거기로 몰아 해변에 대기로 작정하였다. Now when it was day, they did not recognize the land, but they noticed a bay with a beach, on which they planned if possible to run the ship ashore. 40 닻을 모두 끊어서 바다에 버리고, 동시에 키를 묶은 밧줄을 늦추었다. 그리고 앞 돛을 올려서, 바람을 타고 해안 쪽으로 들어갔다. So they cast off the anchors and left them in the sea, at the same time loosening the ropes that tied the rudders. Then hoisting the foresail to the wind they made for the beach. 41 그런데 두 물살이 합치는 곳에 끼여들어서, 배가 모래톱에 걸렸다. 이물은 박혀서 움직이지 않고, 고물은 심한 물결에 깨졌다. But striking a reef, they ran the vessel aground. The bow stuck and remained immovable, and the stern was being broken up by the surf. 42 병사들은 죄수들이 혹시 헤엄 쳐 도망할까봐, 그들을 죽여 버리려고 계획하였다. The soldiers' plan was to kill the prisoners, lest any should swim away and escape. 43 그러나 백부장은 바울을 구하려고 병사들의 의도를 막고, 헤엄 칠 수 있는 사람들은 먼저 뛰어내려서, 뭍으로 올라가라고 명령하였다. But the centurion, wishing to save Paul, kept them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and make for the land, 44 그리고 그 밖의 사람들은 널빤지나, 부서진 배 조각을 타고 뭍으로 나가라고 명령하였다. 이렇게 해서, 모두 뭍으로 올라와 구원을 받게 되었다. and the rest on planks or on pieces of the ship. And so it was that all were brought safely to land.
