Adoptees On

I’ve never reviewed a podcast before today. What would compel me- after only 2 episodes- to recommend this podcast? In just 2 episodes, it’s proving instrumental in unpacking my own complicity in a corrupt and harmful system. As an adoptive parent, I need a daily dose of this and an antidote to the dominant narrative around adoption. As I work to understand how to repair and resist adoptism, while making sure the children in my care feel and have my full support to find their own healing and restorative paths, hearing and processing the lived experiences of adoptees is essential to the work. Thank you, Michele Merrit, for the framework of adoptism and your tireless work to bring scholarship to counter the social constructs around adoption. Thank you, Craig Mod for sharing about your own healing choices - what your APs got wrong and your family got right. Thank you, Haley Radke, for your craft in elevating these stories. The ripple effect of good in the lives of your listeners is probably impossible to quantify, but I hope you see it for the a beautiful gift it is to our world. I’m grateful for this podcast and will continue listening, learning, taking action, and elevating and centering adoptee voices wherever I find them.

This podcast was invaluable to me as I navigated my reunion and coming out of the fog. I so appreciate everything that Haley has done to advance the voices of adoptees.
