There's a lot of surface level talk about the skills gap and the future of the skilled trades, but it's rarely a deeper dive from the perspective of a young business owner within the trades. Noah Kanter of Nth Degree Painting takes a closer look.

A Long Overdue Program-Subscribe Now

Over the course of the last century, 'The Trades' have fallen into a place where they are often not as appreciated by society as they should be--until, of course, they're needed. But in fact, there is an enormous amount of craft involved in the professional trades, and they are every bit as important to the general well-being of society as any other job--if not more so. Noah Kanter's "Advice From a Young Tradesman" explores the trades, and makes a powerful and compelling case for what I like to call the emergent new Golden Age of the Trades--a long overdue evolution in the world of work. He makes a great case for entering the Trades as a career, rather than a job--and his argument is sound. This is a Podcast you want to subscribe to, no matter what you do professionally. Lots of insight here!

JD Salinger of the Paint World

Noah has come out of the gate swinging in his first podcast season and put out a great collection of episodes. It’s clear that he enjoys writing, maybe as much or more than he loves painting, and he has a voice made for radio. Each episode keeps a good pace, not too fast or technical and not too slow or redundant, and each show packs a wallop of content.

But the follow up novel can be a lot harder to write than the first one for anyone with the capacity to be self-critical. He’s already set a high bar for himself and I just hope that he keeps putting out episodes to see where this takes him. I’ve enjoyed the interviews with the heavy hitters as well as his personal journal entry style episodes.

Great new podcast for painters and other craftsmen

I’ve been a podcaster for longer than most people have know what is is! Noah is doing a great job on wreath quality audio and an even better job at thoughtful questions. I’m bias as Noah interviewed me on episode 5, but I would not say all of this if it was not true. Great perspective from a young business owner and craftsman. Thanks for the hard work Noah!!
