Truth, Soul, Rock & Roll | Jason Dunn

Jason Dunn was the original frontman for Hawk Nelson and knew his truth was found in making Punk Rock music. When Hawk Nelson decided to pivot away from making Punk Rock Jason knew he needed to go his own way. Now several years later Jason is thriving in a different way. Proud Father and Husband Jason is continuing to make music that is both true for him, and is a lasting legacy for his kiddo. What do you do when you want to make music which feels true to you, but you're constantly reminded you're part of a "Christian" label? Indeed, what WOULD Jesus do? In After the Encore Volume 4: "Truth, Soul, Rock & Roll" we interview 4 different lead singers to find out how they approached the Christian music culture and where they've gone since that time. Tune in to find out how they answer the questions essential to the essence of the podcast: 1. What does music mean to you? 2. How do you quantify success? 3. And what happens after the music fades? 2. Truth, Soul, Rock & Roll | Adam LaClave

Truth, Soul, Rock & Roll | Adam LaClave

Sparrow Records took a chance on Adam LaClave and his group 'Earthsuit' when they signed them to a record deal. There was nothing that sounded like Earthsuit on the label and hardly anything else within all of Christian music which compared. Adam was ahead of his time, trying to make epic alternative music while struggling with his own views on Spirituality as well as his Sexual Orientation. What followed was a fascinating journey into self-discovery. What do you do when you want to make music which feels true to you, but you're constantly reminded you're part of a "Christian" label? Indeed, what WOULD Jesus do? Dirty Pop | Jacob Underwood

What happens when you go from "making the band" to reforming the band? Jacob Underwood was part of the sensational group O-Town. Brought together for the reality show "Making the Band" (a pre-cursor to other competition-based shows like: American Idol and The Voice) Jacob and the rest of the members found success beyond the trappings of the TV show. With their single "All Or Nothing" they ensured themselves a spot in fan's hearts for decades. What happens after the music fades? With most folks this podcast would be about how an artist progressed in their solo ventures after the band broke up. However, O-Town reformed 10 years after breaking up, released 2 records, and have no intention of stopping anytime soon. Now taking the band for themselves, Jacob, Dan, Trevor, and Erik are making a new, evolved sound which still evokes those same familiar beats you fell in love with all those years ago. Volume 3: Dirty Pop explores the overall pop genre during the late 90's to early 00's. We will chart an entire genre's rise and fall through the lens of a few unique perspectives. Truth, Soul, Rock & Roll | Owen Thomas

Owen Thomas and The Elms were unapologetically authentic in all aspects. From the moment they were making music The Elms were clear in that whether you were booking them for a club or a church they were going to perform the same. Take it or leave it. This was their truth, and it built them a loyal following. Eventually deciding to part ways with the Christian music trappings they set out to forge their own path. What followed has been a legacy unlike most groups who leave the Christian Contemporary landscape. Owen shares his soul with us about his time growing up, time being in The Elms, and how he has made it through some dark times with some clarity. What do you do when you want to make music which feels true to you, but you're constantly reminded you're part of a "Christian" label? Indeed, what WOULD Jesus do?
