Why would anyone invest in that? with Gil Dibner

In this episode of Aggaeus, Haggai Klorman Eraqi sits down with Gil Dibner, General Partner of Angular Ventures, for a conversation about venture capital, AI hype, non-consensus founders, fiduciary responsibility, and why the best investments often look strange before they look inevitable. Gil describes himself as geographically confused: American, Israeli, based in London, investing across Europe and Israel. That outsider position shaped how he thinks. He is drawn to outsiders. To founders with something burning inside them. To technologies that do not fit neatly into a hype cycle. To companies where the first reaction might be: “Why would anyone invest in that?” In a market where venture dollars are concentrating into fewer funds, fewer companies, and bigger AI rounds, Gil argues that the old craft of venture still matters. But in venture, “simple” is never that. AI has made demos easier, valuations higher, metrics noisier, and consensus more expensive. Gil explains why founders need to understand the difference between real conviction and market heat and why investors need to remember they are managing other people’s money. In this episode, we cover: • Why AI has created strange new dynamics in startup funding • Why too much capital can distort both founders and investors • What makes a founder “best in class” or truly one of one • Why Angular looks for non-consensus companies others may overlook • Why AI adoption may be massive, but still slower and messier than the hype suggests Check out the full episode notes, transcripts, and all links on Substack: 👉 https://aggaeus.com/ SPONSORS - EXCLUSIVE FOR AGGAEUS PODCAST LISTENERS: KARDZ.BIZ BUY 2, GET 3 ON KARDZ.BIZ — UP TO $479 VALUE. Can you love a Recommendation Engine? with Dvir Ginzburg

In this episode of Aggaeus, Haggai Klorman Eraqi sits down with Dvir Ginzburg, Founder & CEO of Encore AI, for a conversation about revenue-generating AI agents, enterprise sales, customer delight, and why most AI projects fail when they move from demo to delivery. Dvir started inside the world of recommendation systems, working for Meta and Microsoft. But the more he worked on them, the more he realized something uncomfortable: he did not like the experience those systems created. People ignored banners. They ignored “you may also like” recommendations. They ignored offers that technically made sense but failed to guide them through a real decision. Then ChatGPT changed what felt possible. Instead of another banner or recommendation widget, Dvir saw a different future: AI agents that could guide customers through meaningful financial decisions like opening a deposit account, increasing credit, taking a loan, onboarding, collections, or other revenue-generating moments. The idea sounds simple. Help customers decide. Increase conversion. Automate revenue interactions. But in enterprise AI, “almost right” is not good enough. A 90% accurate agent can still fail across a multi-step customer journey. Prompting alone breaks down. Rules contradict each other. Bad data leaks into the conversation. And the buyer does not care how good the demo looked if the agent fails in production. Dvir explains why Encore’s approach is built around learning from top human performers inside the organization, not just stacking prompts. The goal is not to create another chatbot. It is to understand how the best bankers, loan officers, collectors, and relationship managers actually guide customers then turn that into AI agents that can drive real business outcomes. This is a conversation about enterprise AI, customer trust, revenue, delivery, founder discipline, and the difference between building a great demo and building something customers can actually depend on. 150 Startup Bets with Itamar Novick

Itamar Novick has spent 15 years investing in startups, backing more than 150 companies, including early bets connected to unicorns, decacorns, and public companies. But this conversation is not about the glamour of venture capital. It is about the traps. The mistakes that repeat. The patterns that quietly kill startups. The “good ideas” that look smart on the outside but drain years of time, money, and founder energy. In this episode of Aggaeus, Haggai Klorman Eraqi sits down with Itamar Novick, Founder & General Partner of Recursive Ventures, for a conversation about VC, founder psychology, AI, startup anti-patterns, and what it really takes to build a venture-backed company. Itamar has seen the startup journey from multiple sides: operator, angel investor, VC, board observer, and early supporter of companies from seed to IPO and beyond. That experience taught him something most founders learn too late: Success is hard to copy. Failure patterns repeat. From elephant hunting to “if we build it, they will come,” Itamar explains why many founders don’t fail because they are lazy or unintelligent. They fail because they follow patterns that feel logical in the moment — but destroy the company over time. He also explains why early-stage investing is still mostly about the team, why great founders can pivot through broken markets, and why AI has changed the minimum bar for starting a company. Today, showing up with only an idea is no longer enough. If a demo can be built over a weekend, founders need to prove something deeper: judgment, speed, customer insight, resilience, and a real reason why they can win. In this episode, we cover: • Why venture capital carries more negative energy than outsiders realize • Why startup success is unique, but failure patterns repeat • The anti-patterns that quietly kill early-stage companies • Why Itamar still bets heavily on founders at pre-seed This is a conversation about founders, VCs, anti-patterns, AI, risk, resilience, and how to avoid building the kind of startup that looks promising right until it falls apart. Win the Attention War with Jonathan Karmi

Jonathan Karmi has spent more than a decade inside performance marketing, working across hundreds of clients and watching one problem get harder every year: Attention is disappearing. Today, the average social media user scrolls the height of the Eiffel Tower every day. For direct-to-consumer brands, that means the battle is no longer just about targeting, budgets, or bidding. It is about creative. In this episode of Aggaeus, Haggai Klorman Eraqi sits down with Jonathan Karmi, Co-Founder & CEO of Wider, for a conversation about AI, advertising, creative fatigue, founder psychology, and what it takes to build a company in a market that changes almost every week. Jonathan and his team are building what he calls the intelligence layer for creative performance: a system that uses data, AI models, and creative strategy to help brands generate ads that can actually compete in the feed. The idea sounds simple. Make better ads. Lower acquisition costs. Improve ROAS. But in the real world, “better creative” is a black box. Brands need dozens or even hundreds of ads every week. Winning ads fatigue quickly. Generic AI tools produce generic outputs. And if everyone uses the same models, the internet starts to look like one big bowl of AI sameness. Jonathan explains why Wider is not just generating ads. It is analyzing what works, understanding creative patterns, orchestrating different AI models, and helping brands create at scale without losing the taste, context, and performance signals that actually matter. In this episode, we cover: • Why creative has become the biggest lever in paid advertising • Why D2C brands need so many ads just to stay competitive • How AI can create more content — and more sameness • Why Wider started manually before writing code • How Jonathan thinks about orchestration, data, and creative strategy • What founders should understand about building with AI from day one • Why entrepreneurship means learning to master uncertainty This is a conversation about attention, advertising, AI, creative performance, founder pressure, and the difference between creating more content and creating content that actually wins. Follow the Pain with Amir Haramaty

Amir Haramaty has helped build and scale companies that were later acquired by Microsoft, Salesforce, Meta, and other major players. But his story does not start in a boardroom. It starts on a bridge, deep in enemy territory, wounded while trying to defuse explosives and realizing that humans were still being asked to risk their lives for problems technology should solve. That moment shaped the rest of his career. We sit down with Amir Haramaty, Co-Founder of aiOla, for a conversation about startups, risk, decision-making, voice AI, and the one principle that has guided much of Amir’s work: follow the pain. Amir does not believe in entrepreneurship for entrepreneurship’s sake. He believes in finding painful, expensive, operational problems then building technology that creates measurable ROI. That approach took him from bomb-disposal robotics to workforce management, mobile advertising, cybersecurity, AI consulting, and now aiOla: a company turning speech into structured data for enterprises where forms, inspections, reports, and workflows still depend on manual data entry. The idea sounds simple. People hate entering data. Speech is faster, richer, and more natural. But in the enterprise, “simple” is never simple. Accents, jargon, noisy environments, compliance-heavy workflows, legacy systems, adoption risk, and ROI all matter. Amir explains why aiOla’s real edge is not just voice recognition it is turning messy human speech into structured, usable data that can power workflows, agents, and business decisions. In this episode, we cover: • Why Amir defines himself as a “serial problem solver,” not just an entrepreneur • How a personal experience in bomb disposal shaped his view of risk and technology • Why ROI is still the most important language in enterprise sales • How aiOla turns speech into structured data for real-world operations • Why “follow the pain trail” is Amir’s operating system for finding customers This is a conversation about voice, data, risk, enterprise AI, execution, trust, and the difference between building technology people admire and building technology people actually use. Cedric Chin: Why Smart People Make Expensive Business Mistakes?

Most people only learn judgment after the damage is done. Then reality gives them feedback: late, expensive, and with interest. That is why serious operators and investors pay attention to Cedric Chin. Through Commoncog, Cedric has built a business education company used by hundreds of operators and investors who want to accelerate their business expertise. His work is read by people inside top companies and investment firms because it helps them do one thing better: Recognize the situation before they misread it. Cedric’s goal is simple: How do you get better at business before the scar tissue arrives? His answer is not more theory. It is cases. Patterns. Decision research. Operating experience. And the ability to see what kind of game you are actually in before the market teaches you the hard way. Cedric grew up in Malaysia, studied computer science in Singapore, and then chose the messy route: running business operations in Vietnam instead of taking the safer software engineering path. That put him inside real business early. He helped turn an outsourcing company into a bootstrapped point-of-sale software and hardware business that grew from zero to millions in annual revenue. Later, he built Commoncog for founders, operators, and investors who want to understand how business works when clean frameworks break. This conversation moves through Asian tycoons, Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger, Amazon’s Weekly Business Review, accelerated expertise, naturalistic decision-making, and why the best business people do not just collect lessons from history. They learn to read the situation. Because in business, the danger is not being stupid. It is being smart in the wrong frame. The Terrifying Art of Finding Customers with Collin Stewart

In this episode of Aggaeus, Haggai Klorman Eraqi sits down with Collin Stewart for a brutally honest conversation about revenue, ego, customer discovery, failed validation, and the painful difference between persistence and refusing to let go. Collin started as the sales guy surrounded by engineers building software in silence. He was the one in the phone booth. Talking to users. Talking to customers. Trying to understand what people actually needed. Then he built Voltage, a CRM that made sense in theory but almost nobody wanted to buy. It took him 18 months and a lot of ego death to realize the product was wrong. Then came Carb. A pivot that went from zero to $1M ARR in three months. And then broke under its own weight. Tech debt. Rushed decisions. Product gaps. Founder fear. A services business he didn’t want to build. A pandemic. Debt. Layoffs. And a long lesson in what happens when the market keeps giving you answers you don’t want to hear. This is not a polished “how I won” founder story. It is an experience shared from someone who got punched in the face by the market, learned how revenue actually works, and wrote the book (XX) he wished he had when he was sleep-deprived and terrified. In this episode, we cover: • Why founders accidentally bias their own customer interviews • Why product-market fit is not binary — and how to measure its strength • The painful story of Voltage, Carb, and the cost of ignoring the market • Why going from $0 to $1M ARR too fast can still become a disaster • How to know when persistence becomes refusal to let go • Why pricing conversations should happen earlier than most founders think • How to turn customer discovery into your first real sales funnel This is a conversation about sales, shame, ego, survival, bad products, better questions, and the founder’s real job: Finding customers before the market teaches you the hard way. Eran Shir of Nexar: From Missile Defense to Uncrashable Cars

Eran Shir started as a theoretical physicist studying black holes. Then he helped build Israel’s Arrow missile unit. Then he crowdsourced a map of the internet. Then he sold an AI company to Yahoo. And somehow, that was all before Nexar. In this episode of Aggaeus, Haggai Klorman Eraqi sits down with Eran Shir, co-founder of Nexar, for a conversation about one of the hardest frontiers in AI: making machines understand the physical world. Not the clean, predictable world of demos. The real world. The one with bad drivers, potholes, snowstorms, unicycles, kids chasing balls into the street, broken stop signs, fleet operators, latency constraints, cheap edge devices, and edge cases that can kill people. Nexar began with a deceptively simple question: What if your phone camera could see the road the way Waze sees traffic? That idea became a network of hundreds of thousands of connected vehicles, collecting billions of miles of real-world driving data every year — including tens of millions of rare, weird, dangerous, impossible-to-stage scenarios. Eran explains why the future of autonomy is not only about better algorithms. It is about data density, edge intelligence, economics, and the messy long tail of reality. He also shares the story behind BADASS 2.0, Nexar’s world model for collision prediction, explainability, planning, and risk avoidance — and why its behavior outside driving scenarios surprised even the team that built it. In this episode, we cover: • Why Eran calls himself a “failed physicist” • The difference between AI in the cloud and AI in the physical world • Why autonomous driving is a “where” question, not a “when” question • How Nexar built a real-world vision network across hundreds of thousands of vehicles • The economics of collecting road data when other companies spend millions to get it • What BADASS 2.0 can do, and why it may generalize beyond cars This is a conversation about roads, physics, AI, defense systems, drones, startups, and the strange moment we are entering. Where software no longer just understands text. It is starting to understand motion, risk, and the world itself.
