Faith, Earthworks, and New Beginnings — Pre-Wedding Reflections on the Road

In this heartfelt and spontaneous update recorded on the road, Rob shares a personal glimpse into a whirlwind season of change — from wrapping up major projects at York Meadow Farm to preparing for marriage and seminary. After a long-awaited completion of the farm’s massive driveway project (and a new challenge involving high-tunnel plastic), Rob invites listeners to join in the fun with a “Guess the Stone” challenge and a chance to win a Christmas gift from York Meadow Farm. He also opens up about his upcoming wedding on November 8, his plans to apply to seminary following the big day, and his ongoing studies — from GRE prep to Byzantine chant through the Antiochian Ecclesiastical Online Music School. Along the way, he reflects on learning outside his comfort zone, the blessings of community, and finding peace amid the chaos of growth. Rob closes with gratitude to the All Around Growth Patreon community, a call to prayer as he enters this next chapter, and an invitation to join and support the journey at patreon.com/allaroundgrowth . 3. Faith Over Politics: Reflections on the Charlie Kirk Tragedy & The Elevation of the Cross

    SEP 16

Faith Over Politics: Reflections on the Charlie Kirk Tragedy & The Elevation of the Cross

Reflecting on the Charlie Kirk tragedy, faith over politics, and unity at the Elevation of the Holy Cross.  (read more) Extended Show Notes: In this episode of All Around Growth, Rob Kaiser reflects on the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk and the deep cultural divisions it revealed. Rob begins by grounding the discussion in the facts: Charlie Kirk was fatally shot on September 10th, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University. The alleged shooter, 22-year-old Tyler James Robinson, was arrested days later. Rob emphasizes the tragedy of the event regardless of one’s political stance and shares his limited but respectful impressions of Kirk as a debater and public speaker. The episode then shifts to Rob’s personal experience on social media, where he made a post anticipating that the assassination would stir up highly emotional and polarized reactions. By pointing out that people’s comments would “reveal a lot,” Rob essentially suggested that such a tragic event had become a litmus test — exposing whether individuals truly respect principles like open debate and free speech, or whether they let hostility, partisanship, or insensitivity take over. It’s both a warning and a reminder to watch how others (and maybe even oneself) respond in moments of crisis. Rob also recounts attending a prayer service in Medina, Ohio, organized shortly after the shooting. With 2,500–3,000 attendees, the service included prayer, worship, and moments of silence. Significantly, it coincided with the Orthodox Feast of the Elevation of the Holy Cross. Rob reflects on how this timing symbolized the triumph of life and hope over tragedy, and he stresses the importance of Christians uniting across denominations during times of trial. Ultimately, Rob concludes that healing comes not from political debate but from faith and returning to God. He encourages listeners to rebuild relationships and strengthen their communities through their faith, not through partisan conflict. Soil & Spirit: The All Around Growth Podcast

Rob recaps the July Patreon call, shares his engagement news, and reveals a major shift in podcast focus—from homesteading to Orthodox Christian living. [Read more...] 📝 Full Episode Summary:  In this solo episode, Rob returns to the mic with big updates and a raw, honest look at where the podcast—and his life—are headed.   First, he offers a recap of the July Patreon Community Call, hosted with Kyriaki. While the June Patreon Zoom Call wasn't recorded, Rob used Zoom's AI summary tool to reconstruct the discussion. He shared how this feature has become a practical tool in his family and property planning, and reminded listeners to join the All Around Growth Patreon community for deeper conversations.   The heart of this episode is Rob’s personal announcement: he's engaged. In June, he proposed to Kyriaki at the St. Photios National Shrine in Florida, in front of a reliquary of saints—a moment charged with spiritual significance. This leads into a larger conversation about shifting priorities and realigning his life and work with his faith.   That realignment includes a major change to the podcast itself. Once centered on topics like personal development, financial goals, and homesteading projects, the show is now evolving into something more authentic to Rob's lived experience—his journey in the Orthodox Christian faith. He talks openly about the spiritual transformation he's undergone and how homesteading, while still important, no longer reflects his core identity.   Rob outlines the upcoming Orthodox feast days, including the Dormition Fast (Aug 1–14) and the Feast of the Transfiguration (Aug 6), where he'll witness the blessing of the grapes for the first time. These moments mark a deepening of his spiritual life, and he sees them as integral to the direction of both the podcast and his personal growth.   He also reflects on the Orthodox tradition of memorial services and Koliva, explaining the symbolism and spiritual meaning behind these ancient customs. The way the Church builds community through food and remembrance stands in stark contrast to consumerist culture, and Rob emphasizes how these traditions ground his faith and identity.   Tied to this spiritual shift is a lifestyle one: downsizing. Inspired by Kyriaki’s minimalist approach and a compelling video by Wranglerstar, Rob talks about letting go of material possessions and the freedom it brings. He acknowledges the emotional challenge of decluttering but sees it as part of a broader transformation—one where community, faith, and authentic relationships matter far more than career titles or stuff.   To wrap it all up, Rob shares his intentions for the show: more regular community calls, honest storytelling, and content that aligns with his values. He owns up to "living a lie" for a while—chasing someone else’s idea of success—and urges listeners to do the hard work of getting real with themselves, even when it means letting go of familiar comforts.   This isn’t just a pivot. It’s a declaration of purpose. And it’s an invitation to join a journey that’s just getting started.  Links Mentioned: Join the Patreon community: patreon.com/allaroundgrowthSt. Photios Greek Orthodox National ShrineFacebook Save the Date Event for Rob & Kyriaki's WeddingOrthodoxWikiSupport the show Become a Patreon of the Show! ➡️ patreon.com/allaroundgrowth
