All-In with Chamath, Jason, Sacks & Friedberg

I am probably the opposite of who they would expect to listen. But I freaking love it. I am an independent obgyn who distrusts the mainstream media. It so refreshing to hear topics in a bipartisan way and the discussion behind it. We need more of this. And Sacks is my favorite because he’s not afraid to speak his mind. Please never stop this show!!

Awful

Really excellent show during the COVID era and the besties would challenge each other about thoughts and ideas (and “steelmanning” them)… until it became very apparent that at least one of the hosts had a vested interest in promoting an ideological platform. Starting ~8 months ago, this show had spent more and more time for the host to preach and promote said ideology and long gone are the balance and counterarguments that made the show so great. I look forward to a day when one-sided politics stops sucking the oxygen out of this podcast, but I am not hopeful due to the amount of money these folks stand to gain/lose.

My favorite parts were (1) insightful insider views via their incredible subject matter expertise in business and science (well, science, from one of them ;), and lovvved (2) the thoughtful and bold disagreement in the group. However, things have changed. Sacks is an intellectual superpower and someone whose logic I generally cherish. But now I suspect his rationale has become a tool for a particular coalition and I don’t see his ideas challenged at his level of caliber - so everyone folds to it. Now the narrative is generally flat and one-sided, and often out of scope. I hope Sacks seeks out more of his equals who think differently from him, and together resist the power, opportunism, and convenience of intellectual majesty in a bubble. With great power comes great responsitrilitrust. (Edit: Friedberg brought it this episode!! Nicely done ;)
